There isn’t enough evidence to identify the unnamed “freakiest” PS2 game in the headline: Mister Mosquito, Gitaroo Man and Ghosthunter have all been reported as PlayStation Plus Premium additions. The reports concern different dates, and none confirms each game’s current availability in every region. “Free” also needs a qualifier: a game in the Classics Catalog is playable through an eligible subscription, not automatically yours to keep.
Which PS2 game might the headline mean?
The clues point to several different games, so the “freakiest” description alone cannot settle the identity. Their premises and the dates of reported catalog additions differ:

Does PlayStation Plus make the game free?
Not in the permanent, keep-it-forever sense. Access through the Classics Catalog is a subscription benefit: you need an eligible active tier, and access depends on the title remaining in the catalog and being offered in your region. A dated report that a game joined Premium does not confirm that it is still listed for your account today.

Those are different routes: buying a game is not the same as accessing it through a subscription. How to check whether it is available to you
- Open the PlayStation Store on your console or in your region’s PlayStation Store.
- Search for the game by its title. For Mister Mosquito, try the regional or Japanese title only if the standard name does not return a result.
- Check the game’s product page for its current subscription and purchase options. Confirm that the offer is available for your account’s region before relying on an older news report.
Catalog listings and offers can change. The reports cited above establish what outlets reported at the time, not a live, universal catalog status.
