Whiteward is an area within the Citadel, in Pharloom, the fallen insect kingdom where Hornet’s journey unfolds. Team Cherry’s Steam listing describes the game’s setting and Hornet’s adventure, but does not mention Whiteward. The area-specific description and route information here are attributed to the community wiki.
How to reach Whiteward
The reported entrance is a lift in the southwestern part of Choral Chambers. You need the White Key to unlock it.
Find the White Key in Songclave
The wiki reports that the key can be found on a corpse in Songclave, described in the area entry as a Surgeon. This is one route to the key.

Buy the White Key from Jubilana
The alternative reported route is to buy the key from Jubilana for 220 after completing the Wandering Merchant wish. The wiki does not specify a currency name in its Whiteward entry.
What to expect inside
The community wiki describes Whiteward as a dark, silk-draped former medical facility. It lists the Injector Band, Surgeon’s Key and Spool Fragments among the area’s points of interest, and identifies Unravelled as a boss there. These details can help orient an exploration, but they are not a verified complete map or 100% completion route.

Whiteward’s story and lore
According to the wiki’s summary of the game’s lore, the ward was intended to banish infirmity, sickness and death from the Citadel. Its physicians used silk harvested from Grand Mother Silk in attempts to extend bugs’ lives. The account also describes operations, no discovered anesthesia, and the recycling of silk from some deceased patients. These are fictional practices in the game’s world, not real medical claims or official developer commentary.
The wiki attributes this observation to Hornet: “In the ward down below, I saw it clear, the hollowed husks, and the many torturous implements… machines to instill a bug with thread, that would see their life extended.” This wording is reproduced from the wiki’s transcription and has not been independently checked against an official game script.
