Who is Volta Rossi?
Volta Rossi is a Black Ops 6 multiplayer operator assigned to Crimson One. Call of Duty’s October 16, 2024 launch operator overview describes Rossi as “A street-smart rogue with a blue-blood pedigree, Volta Rossi is an enigma who left the comfort of aristocracy to forge a new name as a HUMINT specialist. Their ties to the Luttazzi family give them unique insight into Avalon.”

The biography uses “their” and “them” for Rossi. It does not explicitly use the word “non-binary”; that label comes from reporting interpreting the character’s pronouns and presentation.
Why is Rossi called the first?
GamePro’s October 30, 2024 coverage of Volta Rossi calls the operator Call of Duty’s first clearly defined non-binary operator. The phrase distinguishes a fixed character presented with gender-neutral pronouns from a character a player can customize.

How Agent Bell complicates the claim
In Black Ops Cold War, players could configure Agent Bell as non-binary during character setup. That makes the broader claim that Rossi is the franchise’s first non-binary playable character debatable: Bell’s identity depended on the player’s selection, while Rossi is presented as a defined character whose official biography uses gender-neutral pronouns. These are different forms of representation, so “first clearly defined non-binary operator” is the more precise description.

Activision lists Black Ops 6 as a first-person shooter released October 25, 2024, with Treyarch and Raven Software as its studios. Its product page lists PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC storefronts or services: Activision’s Black Ops 6 page. Rossi is established here as a multiplayer operator; the cited sources do not establish the character as a campaign protagonist.

The launch roster described operators as immediately available or unlockable through player levels or editions. Those are launch-era conditions from October 2024, not confirmation of Rossi’s current availability in the live game.
