Casey is someone important to Beatrix LeBeau back on Earth. In Slime Rancher’s Adventure Mode, Casey contacts Beatrix through StarMail, and the messages reveal pieces of their shared past and emotionally close relationship.
How Casey fits into Slime Rancher
Slime Rancher follows Beatrix as she leaves Earth to ranch and explore on the Far, Far Range. Casey is part of the personal story behind that journey, rather than a central character in the day-to-day ranching loop: players learn about Casey through StarMail Beatrix receives during Adventure Mode.

The letters point to a significant bond and shared history. A Slime Rancher Wiki character entry describes Casey as Beatrix’s “special someone.” That is a community-maintained description, so it is best to understand Casey as someone emotionally close to Beatrix rather than assume a more specific status such as spouse.
What the game establishes—and what it leaves open
Casey’s identity
The available character-lore entry says Casey’s gender is intentionally ambiguous. No confirmed full name is established in the material available here, so claims that Casey has a particular gender or surname go beyond what those details support.

- Slime Rancher: Plortable Edition
Casey and “1,000 Light Years Away”
The song is associated with Casey and Beatrix’s story, but Casey is not the credited performer of the released recording. Monomi Park’s official soundtrack listing says it is “performed by Chelsea Lee Greenwood.” The distinction matters: the song’s place in the narrative does not establish Casey as its singer or songwriter.
