What was Ellis like before the outbreak?
According to Valve’s profile, Ellis was born and raised in Savannah. He worked at a local garage, spent time with friends, and visited his mother for Sunday dinner. The profile portrays him as sociable and fond of life, with a strong belief in his own immortality.
How does Ellis approach the zombie apocalypse?
Ellis treats the outbreak less as a reason to lose heart than as a new set of challenges. Valve’s biography says he sees survival as a chance to impress his new companions. That optimism and appetite for adventure distinguish him within the survivor group: he tends to meet danger with confidence rather than solemnity.

These lines help make the characters’ dialogue part of moment-to-moment play.
