Ikora Rey’s current voice actor in Destiny 2 is Mara Junot. She took over the role from Gina Torres starting with Season of the Splicer in 2021. The different voice some players heard for Ikora in The Edge of Fate was a temporary English performance, and Bungie later confirmed that the original English voice talent had returned for Ash & Iron.
Who voices Ikora Rey now
Mara Junot is the continuing voice of Ikora Rey. GameSpot reported the recast on May 20, 2021, when Season of the Splicer introduced the change. Junot’s own role information also lists her as Ikora’s voice. Gina Torres, who voiced Ikora originally, is no longer the role’s continuing performer.

Why Ikora sounded different in The Edge of Fate
Players who noticed a new voice for Ikora during The Edge of Fate were hearing a stand-in, not a permanent recast. Bungie said temporary performances were being used for some characters because some voice talent was unavailable. PC Gamer identified Debra Wilson as the temporary English performer for Ikora. Debra Wilson should not be treated as the continuing replacement for the role.
Bungie’s September 4, 2025 update stated: “We’re happy to announce that, with the launch of Ash & Iron next week, the original English voice talent for Ikora, Orin, and Chioma have returned with newly recorded lines for their characters.” The statement refers to English casting. It does not say whether every localized version of the game has been updated in the same way.
#1 Best Overall
- From the makers of the acclaimed hit game Destiny, comes the much-anticipated sequel
- An action shooter that takes you on an epic journey across the solar system
- Humanity’s last safe city has fallen to an overwhelming invasion force, led by Ghaul, the imposing commander of the brutal Red Legion
- To defeat the Red Legion and confront Ghaul, you must reunite humanity’s scattered heroes, stand together, and fight back to reclaim our home
What about other languages?
Bungie’s same update separately mentioned French and Spanish recording work, so the English return should not be read as settling every localization. If you play in another language, check the in-game audio options or Bungie’s official update for the language you use. Those sources are the most reliable place to confirm which Ikora performance you will hear.
