Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Spoiler warning: this article covers the endings of Hollow Knight: Silksong’s Act 2 and Act 3.
Short answer: Grand Mother Silk is the final boss of the main Act 2 route. If you unlock and complete Act 3, the final boss of the Sister of the Void ending is Lost Lace. Which one counts depends on whether you mean the first major ending or the later continuation.
The Act 2 final boss: Grand Mother Silk
Hornet reaches Grand Mother Silk in the Cradle. The choice that matters comes after the fight, and it determines whether the story ends there or continues into Act 3.
Ending without the Soul Snare
If you have not taken the Soul Snare route, Hornet binds Grand Mother Silk’s power and becomes the Weaver Queen. This is the main Act 2 conclusion, and it is the outcome to point to when someone asks for the game’s first final boss.

Continuing through the Soul Snare
If Hornet has completed the Silk and Soul quest, she can use the Needolin after the fight to activate the Soul Snare. This draws Grand Mother Silk toward the Void and opens the way into Act 3. The fight is the same in both cases; only the aftermath changes.
The Act 3 final boss: Lost Lace
In Act 3, Hornet reaches the Abyss and fights Lost Lace, who is under the Void’s influence. Defeating her loosens the Void’s hold on her. Grand Mother Silk then gives Hornet silk to escape the cocoon with Lace. This is the ending known as Sister of the Void, and Lost Lace is its final boss.

What the sources do and do not settle
The routes and their outcomes are well documented. The current game reference wiki and a PC Gamer route guide agree on the boss order and the Soul Snare requirement. Team Cherry’s official store description presents Silksong as Hornet’s adventure through Pharloom, and Steam lists its release date as September 4, 2025.

The sources do not establish a single canonical ending. Calling Grand Mother Silk the “true” final boss or Lost Lace the “real” one goes beyond what the route information supports. If you need one answer, match the wording of your question to the table: the first ending points to Grand Mother Silk, and the Act 3 continuation points to Lost Lace.
