Mother Miranda is the principal villain of Resident Evil Village, also known as Resident Evil 8. Lady Dimitrescu is a major antagonist, but she is one of four regional lords beneath Miranda—not the story’s ultimate villain.
How the villain hierarchy works
Mother Miranda sits above the four lords in the village’s antagonist hierarchy. The lords each preside over a different area, while Miranda is the game’s ultimate antagonist. Capcom producer Tsuyoshi Kanda described Miranda, the lords and their regions as part of the game’s varied horror design.

Is Lady Dimitrescu the main villain?
No. Lady Dimitrescu is a prominent antagonist in her section of the game, but she is one of Miranda’s four lords. Her strong visual presence and the attention given to her and her daughters in a PlayStation Blog interview may make her seem like the central villain; the story’s hierarchy places Miranda above her.
Who are the four lords?
- Lady Dimitrescu — one of the regional lords and a major antagonist.
- Karl Heisenberg — one of the four lords.
- Donna Beneviento — one of the four lords.
- Salvatore Moreau — one of the four lords.
Each lord and their respective area contributes a distinct kind of horror. That creative concept does not make the lords co-equal with Miranda in the story’s hierarchy. Kanda described the direction as: “We wanted to present diversity in "Resident Evil Village," as a sort of "theme park of horror."”

Why the distinction matters
If you mean the most recognizable antagonist, Lady Dimitrescu is an understandable answer. If you mean the principal villain behind the game’s hierarchy, the answer is Mother Miranda. The four lords are major regional antagonists within that larger structure.
