PlayStation’s official cosplay guide describes her as an Aesir princess, but its emphasis is on her ambition: she is training to become a Valkyrie. That is the most direct official identification of the character, and everything below separates what that material confirms from what it leaves open.
Who Thrúd is
Thrúd is the daughter of Thor, the Aesir god of thunder, and she appears in the game. PlayStation’s official cosplay guide, in its Thrúd entry, calls her an Aesir princess. The same entry suggests she would not welcome that label, advising readers to use it only away from her:
“Guess you could call her an Aesir princess, but not to her face, if you have any brains.”
The tone frames her royal status as something she does not want to be defined by, which is a characterization rather than a plot fact.

Two things about these quotations matter for accuracy. First, they come from PlayStation’s cosplay guide, not from in-game dialogue. Second, the guide does not name an individual speaker for either sentence, so they should be read as PlayStation’s description of the character, not as lines spoken by her or by anyone else in the game.
What the official material establishes
- Relationship: Thrúd is Thor’s daughter, as stated in the official character identification for the game.
- Title: PlayStation’s cosplay guide calls her an Aesir princess.
- Ambition: The same guide says her focus is training to become a Valkyrie.
- Appearance in the game: God of War Ragnarök features her, and PlayStation’s official game page lists it for PS4 and PS5.
The story around her
The game continues the Norse saga centred on Kratos and Atreus. PlayStation’s official game page frames Atreus as seeking knowledge about the prophecy of Loki and his role in Ragnarök, while Kratos must decide how to respond to his past and be the father Atreus needs.

PlayStation’s 15 August 2022 recap of the 2018 original sets up the sequel. After Baldur’s death, Mimir warns Kratos and Atreus that the first event said to mark Ragnarök has occurred. A prophecy points to upheaval across the Nine Realms and to the deaths of Aesir gods, including Thor and Odin. That gives Thrúd’s family and the approaching conflict their context, but the recap does not describe her actions in the sequel.
What is not established
The official material above does not give a scene-by-scene account of Thrúd’s role, relationships, choices or ending. Santa Monica Studio’s anniversary Q&A discusses the development focus on Atreus coming into his own, but it does not give a verified account of Thrúd either. Claims about how her story unfolds should therefore come from playing the game itself, not from her family tie or from her stated ambition.
