Yellow Yoshi is the yellow-colored variant of Yoshi, Mario’s dinosaur companion—not a separately established character with a distinct biography. Nintendo lists Yellow Yoshi as playable in Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
What is Yellow Yoshi?
“Yellow Yoshi” refers to Yoshi in a yellow color. Nintendo describes Yoshi as a kind, carefree character from Yoshi’s Island and notes that Yoshis can be green, red, blue, pink, or yellow. The official descriptions reviewed identify yellow as a color variant, not as a Yoshi with a separately named backstory or personality. Nintendo’s Yoshi character page states that Yoshi is green, while others of his kind may be red, blue, pink, and yellow.
Where does Yellow Yoshi appear?
Super Mario Bros. Wonder
Yellow Yoshi is one of the 12 playable characters listed on Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros. Wonder feature page. In that game, Yoshi characters have a relaxed attitude and do not take damage from enemies. That is a rule for Wonder, not a universal ability guaranteed in every game featuring Yoshi.
Other official color references
Nintendo’s Yoshi’s Crafted World character page says Yoshis come in red, pink, blue, yellow, and other colors. The Yoshi’s Story manual also names red, blue, green, and yellow Yoshis. It describes each Yoshi as having a favorite fruit, with all of them liking melons; those fruit preferences are specific to Yoshi’s Story, not a franchise-wide rule. Read the official Yoshi’s Story manual.

What can Yoshi do?
Nintendo’s general Yoshi description highlights his long tongue: he can eat fruit and enemies, then turn enemies into eggs that he can throw. The exact abilities and rules can differ by game, so a color alone is not evidence that Yellow Yoshi has a special power.
