1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIf you mean the water sample in the quest Controlling for Convenience, give it to Persephone Doyle if you want to help her. You can also alter the sample with a liquid tracker first and then deliver it to her, following Oracle Laureate Lesley Beckett’s instruction. That route lets Beckett learn where the sample goes. The other water-related quest, The Brain Benders of Auntie’s Choice, involves no handoff to a named person. Instead, you sabotage the water purifier in Westport. If the scene in front of you matches neither, check the quest name in your journal before following any of the answers below.
Which water quest you are in
The question does not name a quest, and two different water-related storylines in The Outer Worlds 2 can produce a choice that looks like this one. The table separates them.
| Quest | Water-related action | Who is involved | Source and date |
|---|---|---|---|
| Controlling for Convenience | Hand over the sample of the drug Perspective, either unaltered or altered with a liquid tracker | Persephone Doyle (receives the sample); Lesley Beckett (asks you to track it) | Walkthrough dated November 11, 2025 |
| The Brain Benders of Auntie’s Choice | Sabotage Westport’s water purifier as one of three systems that can make the settlement relocate | Engineer 2 (offers the dismantling option); Westport residents | GamesRecon walkthrough published October 28, 2025 and marked updated July 19, 2026; Nerd’s Chalk walkthrough dated November 7, 2025 |
Controlling for Convenience: delivering the sample
Collecting the sample
- Enter the Water Reconditioning Plant at Laplace’s Garden.
- Speak with Persephone Doyle at Caffeintegration Point to start the quest.
- Collect the sample of Perspective. One walkthrough says it comes from a plant terminal, while the November 11, 2025 guide says it comes from the Flocculation System. Use whichever collection prompt your game shows.
Option one: give Persephone the unaltered sample
This is the direct route if your goal is to help Persephone. The walkthroughs reviewed here describe it mainly as the way to assist her. They do not lay out its full narrative consequences, so treat the choice as a matter of whose side you want to take rather than a route with a known best outcome.
Option two: alter the sample for Beckett
Beckett’s version of the quest asks you to add a liquid tracker to the sample before returning it to Persephone and then reporting back to Beckett. According to the November 11, 2025 walkthrough, the tracker is how Beckett learns where the sample goes. The same guide says that delivering the altered sample to Persephone earns a Plasma Pistol Frost Converter and its recipe from the Oracle Laureate. It also describes Speech 7 and Medical 7 checks that can lead Beckett to consider ending the Garden’s experiment. These checks and rewards are as the walkthrough reports them; they have not been independently confirmed in play.
#1 Best Overall
The Brain Benders of Auntie’s Choice: the Westport purifier
This quest is not a water delivery. Westport’s water purifier is one of three systems you can disable to make the settlement relocate, alongside the broadcast facility and the power generator. Sabotage is one of two approaches the walkthroughs describe for getting Westport to move. The other is to persuade key residents to defect.
Sabotage
- Contaminate the purifier by adding Luxe Flourish Skin Powder.
- Dismantle the purifier with Engineer 2.
- Disable all three systems. The GamesRecon walkthrough and the Nerd’s Chalk walkthrough both describe sabotage as the faster path.
Peaceful defection
The diplomatic route persuades the residents instead of damaging infrastructure. The walkthroughs describe it as relying on speech, medicine and other skill checks. Both approaches lead to relocation, so the choice comes down to how you want to get there.
