Yes, with a catch. In the week of October 8, 2026, programmer Lorean Xavier made PT-PC public, a native PC port of P.T., the 2014 PlayStation 4 playable teaser for the canceled Silent Hills. It runs on Windows and Linux, but it does not include the game. You must supply your own P.T. game files to run it.
What was released and who made it
PC Gamer’s Morgan Park reported on October 8, 2026 that Xavier, 21 at the time of publication, had made PT-PC public that week. According to Xavier, as reported by PC Gamer, he has been working on the project since 2024.
The project’s README describes it as a native port of the 2014 PS4 teaser by Kojima Productions. Its C++ game logic was rebuilt from observed behavior, and its renderer uses Vulkan. Levels, models, textures, audio, scripts and cutscenes are read at runtime from the user’s own PS4 game files. The repository and installer contain no game data.
Do you need a PS4 copy?
Yes. The project cannot run without files taken from a P.T. installation, and because the project ships no game data, those files have to come from you. PC Gamer describes the required input as a dumped copy of P.T. The README adds that a store PKG cannot be used as-is.

Neither the README nor the reporting establishes how those files should be obtained, or whether making or using such a copy is permitted where you live. The project does not resolve that question, and it is yours to check before you install.
What you need to run it
The following requirements come from the project’s README, which is maintained live and can change. Recheck it before installing.
Operating system and hardware
- Windows 10 or Windows 11, x64, or Linux x86-64 with glibc 2.38 or newer.
- A GPU and driver that support Vulkan 1.3.
Game files
- Your own P.T. game files.
- The author built and tested against the US release, CUSA01127. European and Japanese releases install with a note, but the author says he has not seen their data himself.
Optional graphics features
- Ray-traced effects require Vulkan ray queries and compatible hardware.
- DLSS requires a GeForce RTX card.
- FSR and XeSS are described as available on recent GPUs.
Microphone
One part of the game uses a microphone. A configured keyboard key can stand in for the spoken word, so a microphone is optional.

Is it the real P.T. or a remake?
PC Gamer says PT-PC is neither an emulator nor a remake, and the README uses the term native port. The distinction is practical. An emulator runs the original PS4 software on PC hardware. A remake is a new version built with new assets. PT-PC does neither: its logic is rebuilt in C++, but the visible content comes from the game files you supply.

The project is not a fork or modified version of shadPS4, the PS4 emulator. Xavier used emulated behavior as a reference point. The README also states that the project is unaffiliated with and not endorsed by Konami or Kojima Productions, and that it contains none of their assets.
How it compares with other ways to play P.T.
| Question | Native PT-PC port | Earlier PC fan remakes | PS4 emulation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Needs your own P.T. game files? | Yes, per the project’s README | Not stated in PC Gamer’s report | Not stated in PC Gamer’s report |
| What it is | Native port with C++ logic rebuilt from observed behavior and a Vulkan renderer, per the README; PC Gamer says neither an emulator nor a remake | Fan recreations for PC, as described by Lance McDonald in PC Gamer’s report | Runs PS4 software on PC; shadPS4 is the emulator named in PC Gamer’s report |
| Fidelity evidence | Developer’s README claims and a quoted impression from McDonald; no independent code comparison or performance measurements in the reporting | Xavier says lighting, atmosphere, interactions and event behavior were not preserved to his satisfaction; McDonald says they missed minor details. These are judgments, not measurements | Not stated in PC Gamer’s report |
| Platforms and hardware | Windows 10/11 x64 or Linux x86-64 with glibc 2.38+; Vulkan 1.3 GPU and driver, per the README | Not stated in PC Gamer’s report | Not stated in PC Gamer’s report |

Steam Deck
The README directs Steam Deck users to install from desktop mode and then add the program as a non-Steam game. It says PT-PC runs on SteamOS. That is the developer’s claim and has not been independently tested.
- Switch the Steam Deck to desktop mode.
- Install PT-PC from the release installer or the portable zip.
- In Steam, add the installed program as a non-Steam game.
Controls
- Mouse and keyboard are supported.
- Gamepads are supported.
- On-screen prompts follow the last input type you used.
Optional PC features
The README lists the following extras. The default is the PS4 look, and extras are off or preserve original behavior unless you enable them.
- Display modes, arbitrary resolutions, upscaling and frame generation
- Selectable graphics settings and ray-traced effects on compatible hardware
- Photo mode, free camera and a loop browser
- A museum of discovered content, Game+ and a speedrun timer
- An experimental third-person view and experimental VR

Why Xavier built it
Xavier told PC Gamer that he wanted to make the version he wanted as a child. He said the possibility that an influential game could become practically unplayable bothered him: “The idea that something so influential could eventually become practically unplayable never sat right with me.”
Rank #4
He also judged that earlier PC remakes did not preserve details such as lighting, atmosphere, interactions and event behavior to his satisfaction. These are his stated judgments, not a measured comparison.
Xavier also addressed his use of AI. He told PC Gamer that he uses AI to help debug and work through problems, but that he remains responsible for architecture and implementation decisions. In his words: “I think there’s an important distinction between using AI as a development tool and blindly relying on it to create an entire project you don’t understand.”

According to PC Gamer’s account, P.T. appeared on PSN in 2014 as a playable teaser for Silent Hills, a planned reboot associated with Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro. After Kojima and Konami fell out and Silent Hills was canceled, P.T. was delisted in early 2015. The game then persisted through emulation and preserved PS4 hard drives. The dates here follow that account.

What the early reaction does and does not establish
Lance McDonald, an Australian P.T. dataminer, posted on October 7, 2026, and PC Gamer quoted him: “This is incredible. Unlike the previous decade of fan ‘recreations’ of P.T. for PC which always seemed to miss important but minor details, this is (as far as I can tell?) a 1:1 port of the entire codebase. It creates all of the undocumented behavior I know of perfectly.”
Treat this as a quoted impression. It is praise from someone who knows the game’s undocumented behavior, not an independent code comparison, performance test or audit. The reporting does not include any of those.
