Amazon’s limited role in Nintendo Switch 2 sales has been reported mainly as a U.S.-specific issue—not a worldwide absence. A June 2025 Bloomberg report attributed the gap on Amazon’s U.S. site to a dispute over third-party sellers, but Amazon and Nintendo disputed the report’s characterization. The public record cited here does not settle the cause, and dated reports should not be treated as a live inventory check.
Was the Switch 2 missing from Amazon everywhere?
No. The reports described different situations by region. Tom’s Guide reported on May 1, 2025, that Amazon UK had opened Switch 2 pre-orders while Amazon US did not have a Switch 2 page at that time. That is a dated snapshot, not evidence of current stock or availability: Tom’s Guide’s May 2025 report.

Nintendo’s Americas purchase-support page lists Amazon and Amazon Canada among retailer options. That directory is a retailer reference, not a real-time inventory feed; it does not confirm a live offer, seller, stock, or delivery date on either storefront: Nintendo’s purchase-support page.

Bloomberg reported on June 30, 2025, citing a person familiar with the situation, that Nintendo had stopped selling products on Amazon’s U.S. site after noticing third-party merchants offering games below Nintendo’s advertised rates. Bloomberg’s account also described allegations that some sellers sourced products in Southeast Asia and exported them to the United States; that sourcing explanation is not independently established by the official material cited here. Both companies publicly disputed the report’s characterization. Amazon said, “The claims made by Bloomberg regarding our relationship with Nintendo are inaccurate.” Nintendo said, “There is no such fact. We do not disclose details of negotiations or contracts with retailers.” The statements do not establish what happened privately or why Amazon US lacked a listing, so it would be misleading to present the alleged dispute as confirmed. The reported quotes are also reproduced by Fortune.
What can shoppers conclude about buying one now?
The May and June 2025 reports cannot answer whether a Switch 2 is currently available on Amazon in any country. Nintendo’s retailer directory indicates a retailer path, but not a current offer. Before relying on an Amazon listing, check the regional storefront and verify the exact console or bundle, who is selling it, stock and delivery timing, total price, and included items. A listing’s presence alone does not establish that the seller is Nintendo or an authorized retailer.

Nintendo’s later announcements show that product availability and bundle contents vary by region, but do not establish Amazon inventory. Nintendo UK announced a Switch 2 + Nintendo Switch Sports Resort bundle for October 22, 2026, and a Mario Kart World bundle and Zelda 40th Anniversary edition for October 29, 2026: Nintendo UK’s announcement. On October 6, 2026, Nintendo announced a Japanese-language, Japan-only bundle for November 12, 2026: it includes the console and a download code for one of three games, costs ¥63,980 including tax, and is described in Nintendo’s Japan announcement.
Why does the retailer question matter?
Nintendo reported cumulative Switch 2 sell-in of more than 10 million units worldwide as of September 30, 2025. Sell-in is Nintendo’s reported measure; it should not be read as a 2026 total or silently treated as consumer sell-through: Nintendo Co., Ltd.’s 2025 financial results.

The console’s substantial reported sales do not resolve the Amazon question. The key distinction remains between a retailer appearing in Nintendo’s directory, a live Amazon listing, and a specific item actually being available from a seller a shopper trusts.
