Respawn removed Storm Point from rotation in every mode in its April 3, 2026 update because the map was causing a crash on specific devices. Daytime E-District replaced it while Respawn worked on a permanent fix. The announcement did not say which devices were affected or what caused the crash.
What the April 3, 2026 update said

“We are temporarily removing Storm Point from map rotation on all modes and will be replacing it with E-District (daytime) while we continue to chase a permanent fix for a crash occurring on specific devices when Storm Point is active.”

What the explanation does not cover
The update is short, and several things readers often ask about are missing from it:
- Affected devices: no console, PC configuration, graphics card, driver, or operating system is named.
- Technical cause: the post does not identify whether the fault lies in a game asset, the engine, or a hardware or software interaction.
- Player impact: no number of affected players or crash rate was published.
- Player-side fix: the update offers no workaround, so there is no settings or hardware change that Respawn recommends.
- Named spokesperson: the statement is attributed to the Apex Legends team, without an individual name or role.
Any explanation beyond the quoted sentence would be speculation, so this article does not offer one.

Later changes are a separate decision
Storm Point appears again in later rotation and gameplay changes. The Apex Legends Overclocked patch notes removed Tridents from Storm Point and Olympus. Respawn said the vehicles were not meeting its goals for vehicle gameplay, and that it wanted the choice of Legend to matter more for traversal. That reason is about design, not stability, so it does not explain the April crash removal.
| Change | Source | Reason Respawn gave |
|---|---|---|
| Storm Point removed from rotation in all modes, replaced by daytime E-District | April 3, 2026 update | Crash on specific devices while Storm Point is active; permanent fix in progress |
| Tridents removed from Storm Point and Olympus | Overclocked patch notes (release date not stated in the excerpt the sources provide) | Vehicles did not meet Respawn’s vehicle gameplay goals; Legend selection should matter more for traversal |
Is Storm Point back in rotation?
The sources available for this article do not confirm whether Storm Point is in the live rotation as of October 8, 2026, and they do not say when the crash was fixed. Later patch notes show Storm Point in subsequent rotation plans, but a plan is not the same as a live rotation. To check the current status:
