A missing Sims 4 pack is usually in one of four states: it was never installed, it is installed but deactivated, it is tied to a different EA Account or platform account, or a recent purchase has not refreshed yet. Work through the checks below in order. Each one rules out a single cause, and together they show which fix applies.
Identify which state the pack is in
Three separate conditions get lumped together as “missing.” EA’s help documentation treats them as different states, and each one is checked in a different place:
| State | What it means | Where it shows |
|---|---|---|
| Owned, not installed | The purchase is on the account, but the files are not on this device | EA app: Library → The Sims 4 → Manage → Manage add-ons, under Owned add-ons |
| Installed, deactivated | The files are on the device, but the pack is switched off in the game | In-game Pack Selection: unselected checkbox and grey Deactivated label |
| Installed and active | The pack is available in the game | EA app: Installed add-ons & in-game content. In-game Marketplace → My Collection → Manage Storage: selected checkbox and green Active label |
| Not on the signed-in account | The pack was bought under a different EA Account, or the purchase did not complete | EA Account Order History; the account signed in on the game or console |
Step 1: Confirm the pack is installed (PC or Mac, EA app)
- Open the EA app and select Library.
- Select The Sims 4.
- Choose Manage, then Manage add-ons.
- Check which list the pack sits in. Installed content appears under Installed add-ons & in-game content. Owned content that is not on the device appears under Owned add-ons. For an owned pack that is not installed, select the download icon beside it.
Expansion packs and game packs are not separate Library entries. EA states that full games appear in the Library, while DLC and expansions are found through the game tile’s Manage add-ons. A pack that looks absent from the Library is often present under Manage add-ons.
Step 2: Check the in-game status (PC, Mac, and console)
Open the in-game Marketplace, select My Collection, then Manage Storage. Find the pack and read its checkbox and tile label. A selected checkbox and a green Active label mean the pack is working in the game.
#1 Best Overall
- Requires The Sims 4 & all game updates. For PC, see minimum system requirements for the pack.
- Create Vampires
- Unleash Supernatural Powers
- Escape to Forgotten Hollow
- Live the Immortal Life
The game’s Download Manager can show an Install Complete status for recent downloads, but it only lists recent activity. An older pack missing from that list tells you nothing about whether it is installed, so use Manage Storage instead.
Step 3: Reactivate a deactivated pack
A pack can be installed and still switched off. In Pack Selection, an inactive pack shows an unselected checkbox and a grey Deactivated label. Before you change anything, EA’s pack-management help gives two instructions that come first:
Rank #2
- Requires The Sims 4 & all game updates. For PC, see minimum system requirements for the pack.
- Rule your story: Build a powerful Dynasty, shape shared Values, choose an Heir, or exile family members in a deep life simulation driven by legacy, prestige, and choice.
- Claim the crown: Rise through Nobility by winning the people, pleasing rival Nobles, dueling with swords, or exposing Scandals that can change the balance of power.
- Scandal fuels drama: Forbidden romances, secret children, and public disgrace can impact careers, relationships, Dynasty Prestige, and Noble Favor.
- Back up your saves. EA’s guidance says: “Always make sure your save files are backed up.” Pack activation changes can affect existing saves.
- Disable all mods. EA’s guidance says: “We recommend disabling all Mods before activating or deactivating any Packs.”
- Open Pack Selection, select the pack, and confirm. A restart may be required.
- If a save will not show the content, open that save’s tile and read its Required Packs entry, then select View Pack(s) before loading. This shows which packs the save expects.
If you load a save that uses a deactivated pack and continue without reactivating it, pack-specific items and gameplay features will be unavailable in that save. Reactivating the pack restores them.
Step 4: Confirm the EA Account and the purchase
The game must be signed into the EA Account that bought the pack. A pack bought on one account does not appear on another, even on the same device.

- Fairy Garden Digital Content
- Life Among the Trees- Step outside and make yourself at home in nature.
- The Fairest Folk - Do you feel nature’s mystical pull? Embark on a special journey and become a Fairy
- A Balanced Lifestyle - Prolonged negative emotions cause imbalance, and imbalance can lead to Ailments with strange effects
- Check the account. Confirm the signed-in EA Account matches the one used for the purchase.
- Check Order History. For a real-money Marketplace purchase, open Order History on the EA Account and confirm the purchase completed. If the purchase does not appear there, reinstalling or reactivating will not add the pack. Contact EA support instead.
- Check console linking. On console, confirm that the console account is linked to the EA Account.
- Sign out and back in. EA recommends signing out of the platform account and signing back in.
Step 5: Refresh after a recent purchase
A recent Marketplace purchase may need an online connection or a restart before its content appears. EA’s Marketplace guidance recommends going online if you are offline, restarting the PC, Mac, or console, and checking again.
Two platform rules can also explain a pack that looks missing:
Rank #4
- Requires The Sims 4 & all game updates. For PC, see minimum system requirements for the pack.
- Open Your Dream Business - Dream big and create a small business that will leave your Sim feeling fulfilled. Make and sell pottery or other crafts, provide a service like tattoos or classes, or come up with something unique. Use the selection tool to designate space in your home for doing what you love and making a living at it. With the new Ticket Kiosk you can run the business you want, charging customers for entry or for time spent. Run a family business and hire your Sim’s household, or meet the perfect candidate and offer them a job. Explore the possibilities with the new Small Business system
- Make Your Mark - With the new Tattooing skill you can give Sims pre-made, custom, or dedication tattoos. As you level up your skill you’ll unlock more stamps and stencils, and increase the odds of excellent results. Body art is about freedom of expression and to celebrate that you can now freely create your own designs in Tattoo Paint Mode. Tattoos can even be layered. Share your custom Tattoo designs with other Simmers using the Gallery, or browse for Tattoos to use in your game.
- Mold Your Future - As you hone your Pottery skill using the Pottery Wheel, more designs – like functional tea sets, planters, incense burners, and more – will become available to you. Finish your pieces in the Pottery Kiln; there are plenty of options for glazes. At higher levels of the Pottery skill, Sims can use the Japanese art of Kintsugi to create beautiful pieces from broken ceramics.
- A World of Possibility - Build your future in a town steeped in history. Nordhaven is the perfect place to pursue the things you care most about, like creative and inspiring hobbies. Sims can attend Meetups to mix and mingle with those who are passionate about the same hobbies – they may even find someone to mentor them in their favorite skill. Sims can become mentors at high skill levels, or they can build their legacy by hosting Classes and Lectures. Listening to a Lecture is one of the ways a Sim may earn Mastery Perks. Hobbies are best when shared, so explore the new neighborhoods of Gammelvik and Iverstad to meet like-minded Sims!
- Moola is platform-specific. EA’s Moola guidance says Moola bought in the EA app cannot be used in the PlayStation Marketplace.
- Console and PC/Mac versions are separate. The console version of The Sims 4 is separate from the PC and Mac version, so content and progress do not carry over between them. Find console downloads through your platform’s game-management area.
When to contact EA support
If the pack is confirmed as owned but stays unavailable after you have checked installation, activation, the signed-in account, the purchase status, and platform linking, contact EA support. Have ready the pack’s name, the platform you play on, the EA Account used for the purchase, and whether the purchase appears in Order History. The help pages above describe checks; they cannot diagnose an individual account or device, so no single cause should be assumed without that information.
EA’s help pages do not display a publication date, and menu labels can change between updates. If a label on your screen differs from the one above, look for the same function under the closest matching name in the same menu.
