Check the exact block where a slime could spawn—not just the surrounding landscape—and remember that these conditions allow a spawn but do not guarantee one immediately.
Check the spawn block’s biome and height
Confirm the biome
The block where a slime would appear must be in a swamp biome. A landscape that looks like a swamp is not enough to confirm its biome; check the biome at the candidate spawn location. Surface spawning in a swamp is separate from spawning underground in a slime chunk.
Check the Y coordinate
The Minecraft Wiki describes swamp slime spawning from Y 51 through Y 69, inclusive. The [Mojang Bedrock bug-tracker issue] also documents swamp slime spawning at Y 51–69 on its test platforms. If the spawn floor is outside that range, try a candidate surface within it.
Check light and moon phase
Measure light at the candidate block
Swamp spawning involves a light-level check. The Minecraft Wiki describes the check, and the Mojang Bedrock issue records light levels 0–7 for the Bedrock test scenario. If you are troubleshooting a particular edition or version, do not assume the Bedrock test establishes identical behavior in every Java or Bedrock release.

Wait for a favorable moon
The Minecraft Wiki says swamp slimes spawn most frequently during a full moon and do not spawn during a new moon. If the biome, height and light appear suitable but no slimes are appearing, check the moon phase and try again at a different phase.
Make the surface usable and stand back
Slimes need clear space to spawn, and the Minecraft Wiki says they do not spawn within 24 blocks of a player. Keep the candidate floor unobstructed and move at least 24 blocks away while allowing time for spawning.

Do not confuse swamp spawning with slime chunks
Underground slime chunks are a separate spawning route. The Minecraft Wiki describes slime spawning in selected chunks below Y 40 regardless of light. That does not make an ordinary swamp surface eligible, and the sources cited here cannot identify whether a particular chunk in your world qualifies.

The Mojang issue is specifically a Bedrock bug-tracker record; it documents the tested height and light conditions but does not establish every difference between current Java and Bedrock releases. For a version-specific check, note your edition and version, then verify the biome, Y coordinate, moon phase and light at the precise candidate spawn block.
