Usually, you can’t battle a friend in Prodigy because you aren’t both online in the same multiplayer world, aren’t friends in-game, or the other player is offline or already battling. Prodigy’s Help Center describes PvP battles against friends, but the exact world-based steps may vary in the current game version. Check the options you see in-game as you troubleshoot.
Check the basics first
- Be online at the same time. Both players need to be logged in. You can’t challenge a friend who is offline, and a friend who is already in a battle may not be available.
- Choose a multiplayer world. If the game offers a choice between a world and “Play offline,” both players should choose the same multiplayer world. Playing offline removes you from PvP. Because Prodigy’s current Help Center battling guide does not describe this world-selection flow, treat it as a troubleshooting check and follow the current in-game prompts.
- Make sure you are friends in-game. Being friends outside the game does not necessarily make a player challengeable in Prodigy.
Add your friend and check the friend list
In the world-based flow described by Prodigy community guidance, click the other player’s wizard and choose Add Friend. They must accept the request before you can challenge them. The community fan wiki reports a 20-player friend-list limit; this figure is not confirmed in the official Help Center, so check whether either list is full if the request cannot be sent.
If you are already friends but do not see each other in the list, both players can log out and back in, then rejoin the same multiplayer world. The exact location and labels for friend controls may differ in the current version.
Send and accept the battle request
- Join the same multiplayer world as your friend, if that option is available.
- Click your friend’s character and choose Battle on their player card.
- Ask your friend to open Awards > Battle Request and accept with the green check. The red X declines the request.
If the Battle option or request screen is missing, the feature may not be available in that area or current game flow. Prodigy has also reported disabling some areas after a battle-system update, including Harmony Island, Crystal Caverns, and The Arena; that does not establish that friend PvP itself is disabled. Try the available in-game options rather than assuming every location supports challenges.

If the battle request does not appear
- Confirm both players are online and in the same multiplayer world, rather than playing offline.
- Check that the friend request was accepted and neither friend list is full.
- Have both players log out, sign back in, and rejoin the world.
- Make sure the friend is not already in a battle, then send the challenge again.
- Ask a parent or teacher to check account or class settings if multiplayer access may be restricted.
If these checks do not help, contact Prodigy Support or visit the Prodigy Help Center. Include what happens when you select the friend and whether the Battle option or request is missing.
What to expect from a Prodigy battle
Prodigy’s Help Center describes player-versus-player battles against friends. Its battle guidance says combat is turn-based: characters and pets act according to speed, players choose spells from a spellbook, and spells use magic points that refill when players answer math questions correctly. This explains the battle system, but it does not confirm that every older world-based challenge step remains available in every current area.
