Those are the two blockers EA’s current English deletion guide names. If neither applies and the deletion flow still won’t complete, the next step is to contact EA support, not to keep retrying. Deleting the account also won’t remove a ban, so it is not a way around one.
The two blockers EA lists
EA’s guide states the rule directly: “You won’t be able to delete your EA Account if you have a pending invoice or a data request in progress.” Those are the only two account-state blockers the guide gives, so check them first.

A pending invoice
An unpaid or unsettled invoice on the account stops deletion. Resolve the billing issue, then start the deletion flow again. The guide does not say how long settlement takes, and it does not explain what to do if you believe an invoice is wrong. In that case, contact EA support through the help page and ask about the specific charge.
A data request in progress
If you or someone else has already submitted a data request for the account, the account cannot be deleted while that request is open. The guide does not say how long a request takes or whether it can be withdrawn. If the status stays unchanged, ask EA support rather than waiting indefinitely.

How to start deletion in EA’s current flow
EA’s current guide describes a self-service flow in the Account Portal. Older EA Help material, including an article dated February 20, 2025, says an advisor must handle deletion. Treat that older article as outdated and follow the self-service steps below.
- Log in to your EA Account.
- Open the Security and Privacy page.
- Choose Delete your EA Account and follow the prompts.
If you cannot reach the Account Portal, or you cannot finish deletion through it, use Contact us at the bottom of the EA help page. EA’s support team handles those cases.

Cancelling a deletion request
After you submit a deletion request, there is a five-day window in which you can cancel it. Once the deletion completes, EA says it cannot be undone, so use that window if you have second thoughts. The guide’s adjacent question, “How do I cancel an EA Account deletion request?”, is answered in the same help guide.
What a ban does and does not change
A ban is not one of the two official blockers. EA says that deleting an account does not remove a ban or existing Terms of Service violations. A reader trying to clear a ban should use EA’s ban-appeal route through its help pages, not the deletion flow.

What you lose before you delete
EA describes whole-account deletion as permanent. Before you confirm, understand what leaves with the account:
- Access to games, entitlements, subscriptions, and in-game purchases tied to the EA Account.
- EA games bought or downloaded through Steam or Epic that are connected to the account.
- The ability to link any connected platform account to a different EA Account. EA says those platform links cannot be attached to another EA Account after deletion and invites users to contact EA for another solution.
- Mobile-game data. Deleting the EA Account does not remove it automatically.
- Console EA Play memberships. These must be cancelled through Microsoft or Sony.
Choose the route that matches your goal
Deleting the whole EA Account is only one of several options. The table compares the main goals by scope, reversibility, and consequences.

Moving a connected platform account
If your real goal is to move a console or PC platform account to a new EA Account, deleting the old one may not help, because platform links cannot be attached to another EA Account after deletion. Use the Connected Accounts unlinking flow instead. Note that progress does not transfer with the link.
Removing a mobile-game account
EA handles mobile-game deletion separately from the EA Account. Depending on the game and platform, look for Settings, then Delete Account, in the game itself. Mobile deletion is permanent across all devices, and it does not cancel recurring subscriptions, so cancel those through the app store that billed you.

When the reason is still unclear
If you can’t tell whether you’re blocked by billing, a data request, a ban, or a technical fault, start with the two official blockers and then contact EA support from the help page with your account email and the exact message you see. That gives support enough to tell which of the cases above applies.
