If you can’t join a friend in Roblox, first check whether they allow others to join and whether you have permission to access their experience or server. If those settings look right, the problem may be a private-server or group restriction, a temporarily unavailable server, or an issue with your connection or Roblox app.
Why the Join Experience option may be missing
Search for your friend’s username or open their profile. When they are playing an experience and allow others to follow them, Roblox says a Join Experience option should appear. If it is missing, ask your friend to check who can see their online status and current experience, as well as whether they allow others to join. Roblox’s joining instructions explain the join flow.
A friend can be online but appear offline to you, or their current experience may not be visible, because of their visibility settings. They can review these settings at Settings → Privacy & content restrictions → Visibility & private servers → Visibility. Roblox notes that available choices vary by age and region. Check whether you have permission to join
Seeing the friend or the Join Experience option does not guarantee that you can enter the experience. Roblox Support says, “You will only be able to join the experience if you have the necessary permissions to join the experience.” Check the access rules for the specific experience before treating the problem as a connection fault.

Private servers
For a private server, ask its owner to add your username under Server Members or turn on Friends Allowed. Roblox’s Error Code 524 guidance also says users under 13 can join only private servers created by their friends. Check the server’s settings and eligibility in Roblox’s Error Code 524 help article.
Group-only experiences
If the experience is limited to members of a group, you need to belong to the required group. Ask your friend or check the experience’s access details to confirm which group is required.

What Error Code 524 means
Error 524 is primarily a permission warning: you may not be allowed into the experience or private server. Roblox also lists server availability and network or device glitches as possible causes, so the code is a reason to check access first, not proof that your internet is at fault. Start with the private-server or experience permissions, then try the basic checks below if access appears correct.

- Restart Roblox and your device. Close the app or browser session, reopen Roblox, and try joining again.
- Wait and retry. The game or server may be temporarily unavailable.
- Check your connection. Try another network if one is available, or restart your router if connectivity seems unreliable.
- Update or reinstall Roblox. If the app may be outdated or corrupted, updating it—or reinstalling it if needed—can help.
