Those two checks help narrow down whether to investigate the keyboard or device, a particular experience’s controls, or a broader Roblox problem. The title alone doesn’t identify the cause, so treat the steps below as diagnosis—not a guaranteed fix.
First, narrow down where the problem is
- Test the keyboard outside Roblox. Try typing in another app and check whether other keys respond. If the keyboard also fails elsewhere, troubleshoot the keyboard or device before treating this as a Roblox-specific problem. This is a basic diagnostic check, not a Roblox-documented diagnosis.
- Try another Roblox experience. Roblox recommends noting whether a glitch happens in one place or in all places. If movement fails in just one experience, start with that experience’s controls and consider reporting a glitch. If it happens in several, investigate Roblox’s settings and general desktop troubleshooting.
Check the affected experience’s controls and settings
Open the in-experience menu and select Help to review the keyboard shortcuts and controls for that experience. Roblox notes that controls can be found in the Help menu; the expected movement keys or behavior may depend on the experience. See Roblox’s guide to in-experience settings and Help.
If you may be entering UI navigation mode accidentally, check the UI Navigation Toggle in the experience’s settings. Roblox says this toggle controls whether the backslash key can enter or exit UI navigation mode, and suggests disabling it if you often enter that mode by accident. It is worth checking, but Roblox’s guidance does not establish UI navigation as the cause of movement failures.
If movement fails in multiple experiences
For a problem that appears across Roblox experiences, try general desktop troubleshooting. Roblox recommends restarting the computer first. Its broader troubleshooting guidance also lists corrupted temporary files, firewall blocking, and corrupted Roblox files as possible causes of desktop problems. Depending on what you find, follow the applicable cleanup or firewall steps; reinstall Roblox if the problem persists. These are general desktop troubleshooting options, not fixes identified specifically for keyboard movement.

Report a problem that seems limited to one experience
If the keyboard works elsewhere and other Roblox experiences are unaffected, report the issue with enough detail for it to be investigated. Roblox recommends explaining what the glitch does, when it began, and whether it happens in one place or all places. Include the device you are using and the steps that lead to the problem. You can report a glitch through the Roblox DevForum or Bug Report form.
