In The Sims 4, take a pregnancy test by selecting a toilet and choosing the pregnancy-test interaction; EA lists its cost as 15 Simoleons. If that option is missing, check the Sim’s age and pregnancy settings, then consider whether mods or a game update are affecting gameplay. A missing option by itself does not tell you whether the Sim is pregnant.
How to take a pregnancy test
- Select a toilet in the game.
- Choose the pregnancy-test interaction. EA lists the cost as 15 Simoleons in its pregnancy guide.
EA also identifies pregnancy moodlets as signs that a Sim is pregnant and an indication of the trimester. The test option not appearing is not, on its own, confirmation either way.
Check whether the Sim can become pregnant
Pregnancy interactions depend on age and the Sim’s Create a Sim pregnancy settings. EA’s guide says teen Sims cannot get pregnant, and Elder Sims cannot become pregnant. For young adult and adult Sims, the settings include “Become Pregnant,” “Get Others Pregnant,” and “Neither.” EA says only female Sims can become pregnant by default.
Review the Sim’s age and pregnancy setting in Create a Sim. If the Sim is set to “Neither,” or their age does not allow the relevant pregnancy role, the pregnancy interaction may not be available.

Consider mods or a game update
EA warns that mods can stop working correctly after game updates and may cause gameplay problems. That makes a mod conflict one possibility, not a diagnosis. EA’s recommended approach is to launch the game with mods disabled and check whether it works, then consult mod creators’ compatibility guidance. If needed, add mods back in batches to help identify when the problem returns. See EA’s mod and update troubleshooting guidance.
What the July 2025 pregnancy bug does—and doesn’t—explain
EA’s July 16, 2025 patch notes said pregnancy-related problems followed the July 1 update and were connected to performance optimizations; EA said it reverted the relevant changes to address player reports. The notes listed these fix versions:

If the Sim’s age and settings are eligible and disabling mods does not resolve the issue, the available information does not identify the cause for a particular save. To narrow it down, note the platform and game version, the Sim’s age and pregnancy setting, whether the Sim is already pregnant, and which mods are installed.
