Roblox age verification can fail because the option is unavailable for your account or region, camera permissions or capture steps are incomplete, facial age estimation cannot determine an age, or an ID image is unclear or still processing. The fix depends on which method you are using: facial age estimation or government-ID verification.
Check which age-check method you’re using
Roblox currently describes two methods: facial age estimation and ID verification. The available option can depend on your account and region. Facial age estimation uses a facial image and video; ID verification requires a government-issued photo ID and is available only to users whose account age is at least 13. See Roblox’s overview of age checks.
To find the applicable option, open Settings > Account info and look under Age Group. The available choices may vary. Roblox says age checks are required for some features, including chat and Restricted Content, and feature access can depend on account settings and region.
If facial age estimation will not finish or gives no result
Allow camera access and follow the on-screen capture steps. If Roblox cannot estimate your age, its stated next step is ID verification: go to Settings > Account info and choose the applicable ID option under Age Group. Roblox’s age-check guidance says the ID route is for users aged 13 or older.

Roblox says facial age estimation analyzes images and video, then deletes them after processing; it also says it does not receive or store biometric data from that estimation process. Those statements apply to facial estimation and should not be assumed to describe ID verification.
If ID verification is pending or fails
Check that the image is clear and the entire document is visible inside the frame. Blurry or partly cropped images may take longer to process. Roblox also notes that documents from some countries can take longer, including documents with non-Roman characters. The ID Verification FAQs say age verification is supported in over 180 countries; accepted document types vary by country.

The capture flow requires camera access and may ask you to capture both the document and your face. If the ID has a barcode on the back, capture that side too. Use your own government-issued photo ID; Roblox gives driver’s licenses, passports, and residency cards as examples. Return to the original Roblox session to check the status. Roblox says a pass or failed result can take a few minutes to appear. Follow the steps in Roblox’s ID verification instructions.
If the age estimate or birthday seems wrong
If your estimated age seems incorrect and your account age is over 13, Roblox says you can verify your birthday using ID. Go to Settings > Account info > Continue with ID. If the account age is under 13, Roblox describes changing the birthday using the pencil icon. For users under 18, a linked parent may be able to update the birthday in certain situations, subject to Roblox’s limits. See Roblox’s age-check guidance.

If the verification option is missing
Roblox says age-check methods are not available to every account, and feature access can vary by region and account settings. Parental approval is required for facial age estimation in some regions. If you do not see an option under Settings > Account info > Age Group, its absence may reflect availability or eligibility rather than a failed capture. Roblox’s age-check overview explains the current methods and conditions.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. When Roblox Support cannot resolve it
Roblox Support says it cannot manually verify IDs, remove an existing verification, or change account settings for users. Use the in-account steps that match your issue: retry a clear, complete ID capture; use ID verification if facial estimation cannot determine an age and you meet its age requirement; or follow the birthday-correction route for your account’s age and parent-link status. If the camera flow still fails, the official guidance does not establish a universal device, browser, or network fix, so the exact error and setup matter.
