A contract that looks finished but still shows as incomplete usually falls into one of three situations: the completion bar did not move with the work, several similar contracts appear to be competing for the same progress, or the work is enough to collect a reward but the contract has not been turned in. Player reports describe all three. None of them establishes a single cause for every case, and the available evidence does not confirm whether a later patch has changed this behavior.
Three situations that look like a failed contract
The completion bar does not move with the work
The most common complaint is a mismatch between visible fieldwork and the progress shown for the contract. In one Steam discussion, a player describes harvesting and delivery while the completion bar stayed at roughly 20%. In another, a player reports 100% of the cargo transported while overall completion still read 20%. These are individual reports from players, not evidence of a defect that affects every save. They are useful mainly as a pattern to check against your own game.

Several similar contracts share progress
A Steam user reports a second pattern: when several harvest contracts are active for the same crop and the same sell point, progress from the work can be credited to the wrong field. In that report, a contract does not show as complete until all of the matching contracts are completed. This is a reported interaction worth checking, not an official diagnosis. It matters most if you have stacked identical jobs at one destination.

“Complete” in the field is not the same as turned in
A GIANTS Software forum post about the series explains that the completion message can mean enough work has been done to collect the reward. The player may then keep harvesting before turning the contract in. That post is older and predates Farming Simulator 2025, so it describes the general contract logic of the series rather than confirmed FS25 behavior. It still explains a common source of confusion: a contract can be eligible for payment while the game is not yet showing it as handed in.

How to tell which situation you are in
- Read the contract’s remaining requirement. Open the active contract in the contracts menu and note the task, field, crop or operation, delivery destination, and the amount still outstanding.
- Compare the requirement with what you actually did. Check whether the work was done on the same field, with the same crop, and delivered to the same destination. A mismatch on any one of these points explains many “stuck” contracts without any bug.
- Check for overlapping jobs. List every active contract that uses the same crop and sell point. If there are several, the overlap pattern described above is a candidate cause.
- Decide whether to turn in now. If the contract is already eligible for its reward, you can turn it in before continuing. Turning it in first makes the state easier to read, because the remaining work is then the only open question.
- Escalate only when the work clearly qualifies. If the contract’s requirement is met on the same field, crop, and destination, and it still does not advance or close, treat it as a possible bug and move to the reporting steps below.
Reporting a reproducible bug
GIANTS Software gives a direct route for problems that are not caused by mods. Its support page says: “If you find a bug in Farming Simulator which is not related to mods, we kindly ask you to report it through our official bug tracking system.” The same page asks for steps to reproduce the problem, your platform and system specifications, and relevant screenshots or log files.
Because the route is limited to bugs not related to mods, note any active mods in your report and describe how the contract was set up, including the crop, field, and destination. A report that names the exact contract conditions is far more useful to the developer than a general complaint that a contract “does not work.”

A Steam user describes an unofficial workaround for PC: editing missions.xml in the save folder and changing a contract’s status and finish-state values. The post’s author warns that this can complete a contract without any of the work being done, and says they regard that use as cheating. The method is user advice, not official support, and it changes the save state directly.

If you choose to experiment with it, copy the entire save folder somewhere safe first so you can restore the original. Do not treat the method as safe or universal. It can produce a save that no longer matches the work your game has recorded.
What is not established
The available evidence does not identify which Farming Simulator 25 version, platform, mod combination, map, or save condition triggers these failures, and it does not show whether a later update has resolved them. No current fix version has been established. The community explanations above are anecdotal. No reliable frequency figure exists for contract failures, and the number of forum threads on the topic does not indicate how many players are affected.
When you report a problem, these gaps are exactly what the developer will need to narrow down, which is why the reproduction details matter more than a general description of the frustration.
