If your Sims 4 interactions do nothing, cancel, or leave a Sim frozen, start by checking how widespread the problem is. Reset one unresponsive Sim; if the issue began after an update and you use mods or custom content, test the game with them disabled. When clicks fail across Sims, objects, lots, or saves, treat it as a broader game or input issue—not automatically as one stuck Sim or a particular mod.
First, identify what is failing
Notice whether the problem affects one Sim or everyone, one object or many, and one lot or every save. Also note what happens after a click: nothing, an action that remains queued, an interaction that cancels, or a Sim that freezes while the rest of the game continues. These patterns help choose the next test, but none identifies a cause on its own.

- One Sim is unresponsive: try resetting that Sim.
- The issue started after a game update or a mod change: test without mods and custom content.
- Clicks fail across Sims and objects, including in different saves: investigate a broader game or input problem rather than assuming one Sim is stuck.
A player report describes interactions failing with toilets, televisions, couches, and Sims across lots and saves, but it does not establish the cause of that pattern. EA Forums: “Can’t interact with objects or other sims”.
Reset a single stuck Sim
EA’s reset command returns a Sim to a playable state. It does not send the Sim home or change their needs, and it cancels their wishes and moodlets. Use the console for your platform, then enter the command with the Sim’s actual first and last name.

- Open the cheat console: press Ctrl + Shift + C on PC or Mac; on PlayStation, press L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 together; on Xbox, press LB + LT + RB + RT together.
- Enter
resetSim Firstname Lastname, replacing the example names with the stuck Sim’s first and last name. - Press Enter and check whether that Sim can interact again.
EA also documents an alternative: enter testingcheats true, then Shift-click the Sim and select Reset Object (Debug). On consoles, consider the achievement and trophy consequences before enabling cheats: some cheats disable achievements and trophies on the current save. Trying to reset every Sim
To attempt a reset of all Sims in the current game, enter resetSim *. EA warns that this may not reset every Sim and can return a “Sim not found” error, so do not treat it as a guaranteed fix.

Check whether a mod or custom content is involved
A mod that worked before can become incompatible after a game update. EA does not screen or support mods, so test the game in Live Mode with mods disabled before deciding that a mod is—or is not—the cause.
- Disable mods and custom content, then launch the game and test the same kind of interactions in Live Mode.
- If interactions work, check each creator’s site for a version compatible with the current patch. Follow the creator’s instructions when replacing an older file.
- Restore your content in batches, launching the game after each batch. If the problem returns, split that batch in half and test again; keep narrowing it until you identify the troublesome item.
EA calls this the 50/50 method and recommends testing gameplay mods before custom content, because gameplay mods are more likely to cause issues. If the problem persists with mods disabled, that test alone does not prove your save or the game is bug-free. Read EA’s guidance on mods, updates, and error codes.

Could it be a current game bug?
Interaction failures do not all share one cause. In its September 22, 2026 update notes, EA described separate fixes involving Sims competing for an object’s stand slot, interaction priority and queue duration (especially sleep and chat or group chat), certain interactions that tended objects, and Sims freezing after WooHoo when another autonomous interaction was queued. Those examples may help explain similar symptoms, but they do not confirm that any one of them is affecting your game.
EA also said it was still investigating other freezing and canceled-interaction issues. As a result, a reset or a clean test without mods may narrow down the possibilities without resolving every case. See EA’s September 22, 2026 “Sul Sul, Smarter Sims!” update notes.
