An unfamiliar follow alone does not show that your account was hacked, that you invited the account, or that you broke a rule. For a passive follow, Roblox says no action is required; report suspicious messages, links, or other conduct through Roblox’s tools.
Why might bot accounts follow you?
Roblox’s explanation is that growing and popular games can attract bots. Its August 19, 2026 platform update says it checks account legitimacy using a range of signals, including behavior and activity patterns that do not match how real people use the platform. Roblox does not publish the specific detection methods, so there is no reliable public checklist for identifying a bot from its profile or explaining why one account followed a particular player.
Some unsolicited follows may be part of fake-engagement activity, but an unfamiliar follower is not proof that the account is automated. Nor does one follow establish that you invited it or that someone accessed your account. Roblox’s public explanation does not diagnose individual follows.
Why can your follower count suddenly change?
In the same August 19, 2026 update, Roblox said it had begun a platform-wide enforcement wave against bot accounts and would keep scaling it. Roblox warned that player counts and profile followers could fall as accounts were removed. Follows, pending friend requests, votes, and group joins tied to identified accounts may be rolled back, and Roblox said further adjustments could follow as its checks continued.

Roblox also said bot engagement was excluded from Recommended For You and that this enforcement was not a Discovery-ranking change. Its instruction for the announced cleanup was: “There is no action required.”
What should you do about an unfamiliar follow?
If it is only a follow
You can leave it alone. You do not need to use a follower-removal tool or contact the account simply because it followed you. If Roblox identifies the account as part of its cleanup, related follows may be rolled back through the platform’s enforcement process.

If the account sends a suspicious message or behaves inappropriately
- Use Roblox’s in-experience Report Abuse flow, or contact Roblox Support.
- Identify the account and describe the specific message or conduct clearly. Roblox’s digital-safety guidance recommends reporting the behavior through Roblox’s native tools.
- Do not follow links sent by strangers or enter your Roblox password on a site promising free Robux, followers, or other benefits. Roblox warns that unofficial or lookalike sites and suspicious offers can be used to trick players or steal accounts.
Roblox says moderation uses automated systems and human review, and that consequences depend on the violation and the user’s history. Reporting is the appropriate channel; an individual outcome cannot be guaranteed.
Should you use a service to get rid of bot followers?
No. Avoid services that ask for your account credentials or access to generate follows, remove followers, or automate account actions. Roblox’s Creator Third Party App Policy prohibits several forms of platform-abuse automation, including account creation at scale, repeated login attempts, likes or shares, and abuse of reporting. The policy does not enumerate every follower service, so do not assume a particular tool is approved; sharing credentials or granting access to an unknown service also puts your account at risk.

What a sudden follower spike does—and does not—tell you
A sharp increase can be alarming, but it does not by itself prove your account was compromised or that you violated Roblox rules. A single user on r/RobloxHelp described gaining 1,000 followers after joining a “free follows” game; that post is an anecdote, not evidence of how common the practice is or what Roblox will do in any individual case. Roblox has not published a prevalence figure or a way for players to determine the cause of a specific follow.
