The “no internet connection” message in Roblox does not point to one cause. It means the Roblox app or the experience you joined could not reach Roblox’s servers in a stable way. That can happen while other apps on the same device load normally. Roblox’s own guidance lists firewall or security software, a slow or inconsistent connection, and an experience-specific problem as the usual suspects.
The fastest way to fix it is to work out which of those three is responsible. Run the checks below in order, and stop when one of them changes the result.
Why a working connection elsewhere does not rule out Roblox
Browsing or streaming on the same network shows that your connection works for those apps. It does not prove that Roblox can get through. Security software can block the Roblox app while other programs are allowed. A connection can also be too slow or unstable for a live session even when a web page loads. Roblox’s General Connection Problems article states it plainly: “Firewall: This is very frequently a firewall problem, though it can be (in very few cases) the result of a low-bandwidth connection or an inconsistent wireless connection.” The article does not name an author or show a publication year in the version we reviewed, so attribute the wording to Roblox Support.
Work out the scope first
The pattern of failures tells you more than the error text. Compare what you see against the table below before changing any settings.

| What you observe | What it suggests |
|---|---|
| Roblox Status shows an active incident | The problem may be on Roblox’s side. Wait for an update rather than reinstalling. |
| Only one experience fails, and others work | The experience itself may be defective. Roblox asks players to tell the experience creator when a place is broken. |
| Every experience fails on every device on the same network | Look at the network, the router, or a firewall that covers the whole connection. |
| Roblox fails on one device but works on another device on the same Wi-Fi | Focus on that device: its security software, app installation, date and time, or permissions. |
| Roblox works on a different network, such as a phone hotspot | The original connection is the likely cause. Contact the provider responsible for it if the problem persists. |
| Switching from Wi-Fi to a cable (computers) or to Wi-Fi from cellular (phones) changes the result | The wireless link or cellular signal is the likely weak point. |
Check the live Roblox Status page before you change device settings. Incidents can start and end quickly, so this article does not say whether Roblox was up or down on any particular date.
Step-by-step troubleshooting
1. Close Roblox and try again
Fully close the app or the browser tab, then reopen it and join the experience again. If the message returns in the same place, move to the next step.

2. Test a different connection
Connect the device to another network if one is available, such as a phone hotspot or a different Wi-Fi network you are allowed to use. If Roblox works there, the original network is the likely cause. On a computer with an Ethernet port, you can temporarily connect by cable to see whether the Wi-Fi link is the weak point. Roblox specifically suggests a wired connection, where possible, to rule out Wi-Fi. A cable is a diagnostic tool, not a guaranteed fix. On a phone, Roblox’s mobile requirements page advises trying Wi-Fi when 3G or 4G is causing problems.
3. Refresh the app and the device
On mobile, Roblox’s error-code guidance recommends force-closing the app, restarting the device, and checking that the date and time are set correctly. Reinstall the app only if these steps do not help. On desktop, Roblox’s guidance includes reinstalling the app, and on Mac its error pages suggest checking application permissions. Reinstalling cannot fix an outage or a network that blocks Roblox, so run it after the network checks, not before.

- Wi-Fi 6 Mesh Wi-Fi - Next-gen Wi-Fi 6 AX3000 whole home mesh system to eliminate weak Wi-Fi for good(2×2/HE160 2402 Mbps plus 2×2 574 Mbps)
- Whole Home WiFi Coverage - Covers up to 6500 square feet with seamless high-performance Wi-Fi 6 and eliminate dead zones and buffering. Better than traditional WiFi booster and Range Extenders
- Connect More Devices - Deco X55(3-pack) is strong enough to connect up to 150 devices with strong and reliable Wi-Fi
- Our Cybersecurity Commitment - TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement
- More Gigabit Ports - Each Deco X55 has 3 Gigabit Ethernet ports(6 in total for a 2-pack) and supports Wired Ethernet Backhaul for better speeds. Any of them can work as a Wi-Fi Router
4. Check firewall, security software, and browser settings
On a PC or Mac, confirm that your firewall or internet-security software allows Roblox to connect. In a browser, use a current, supported version and temporarily disable ad-blocking extensions that may interfere with loading. Roblox’s General Connection Problems article lists the UDP port range 49152–65535. Treat this as a technical detail for firewall or router diagnosis, not a first step for most people.
On a school, work, or other managed network, do not change router or firewall settings yourself. Ask the network administrator to check whether those ports or the Roblox app are being blocked.

- Dual Band WiFi Extender: Up to 44% more bandwidth than single band N300 WiFi extenders. Boost Internet WiFi coverage up to 1200 square feet and connects up to 30 devices(2.4GHz: 300Mbps; 5GHz: 433Mbps)
5. Collect details before contacting support
If the steps above fail, prepare the following before you contact Roblox Support:
- The exact error message, such as “Check your internet connection and try again” or “Could Not Connect”
- The device model and operating-system version
- The username and the experience where the problem occurs
- The steps that reproduce the problem
- Recent device, network, or security-software changes
Error codes 266 and 279
Roblox’s error-code pages give platform-specific steps for Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Amazon Fire OS, and ChromeOS. The steps differ in how users force-close the app, reinstall it, or check permissions. The codes themselves are clues rather than diagnoses:
Best Value
- A New Way to WiFi: Deco Mesh technology gives you a better WiFi experience in all directions with faster WiFi speeds and strong WiFi signal to cover your whole home.
- Better Coverage than traditional WiFi routers: Deco S4 three units work seamlessly to create a WiFi mesh network that can cover homes up to 5, 500 square feet. No dead zone anymore.
- Seamless and Stable WiFi Mesh: Rather than wifi range extender that need multiple network names and passwords, Deco S4 allows you to enjoy seamless roaming throughout the house, with a single network name and password.
- Incredibly fast 3× 3 6 Stream AC1900 speeds makes the deco capable of providing connectivity for up to 100 devices.
- With advanced Deco Mesh Technology, units work together to form a unified network with a single network name. Devices automatically switch between Decos as you move through your home for the fastest possible speeds.
- Error 266 is described by Roblox as a timeout associated with connectivity issues such as low bandwidth or internet speed.
- Error 279 (ID 17) means the Roblox client and Roblox’s servers have difficulty establishing a network connection.
Neither code identifies a single root cause on its own. Use the scope table above to narrow the problem before acting on the code.
Published device and connection requirements
Roblox Mobile’s requirements page lists the following minimums. Check that page for current compatibility, because requirements can change.
| Requirement | Minimum stated by Roblox | Source |
|---|---|---|
| iOS / iPadOS | 14 or higher | Roblox Mobile requirements page, publication year not displayed (accessed 2026) |
| Android | 8.0 or higher | Roblox Mobile requirements page, publication year not displayed (accessed 2026) |
| Internet connection | 4–8 Mb/s minimum | Roblox Support, publication year not displayed (accessed 2026) |
The 4–8 Mb/s figure is a minimum, not a guarantee of stable play in every experience. A device that meets it can still show this error on a weak or congested connection.
When to contact your provider or Roblox
If Roblox works on a different network but fails on your usual one, the problem sits with that connection. Contact the internet provider responsible for it, and tell them the failure is limited to Roblox while other sites and apps work. If Roblox still fails on every network after the steps above, contact Roblox Support with the details listed in step 5.
