The official sources do not explain why the original voice line was written that way, so the reason behind the joke is still unconfirmed.
What Mini P.E.K.K.A. says
The character’s voice line is the word “Pancakes.” Two early official Clash Royale posts, both published in Japanese, state this directly. The table below lists every official source reviewed for this answer, what each one establishes, and what it leaves out.

The 2017 and 2018 posts confirm the voice line. The 2025 posts show how the pancake theme was later built into the hero, but they do not explain the original choice.
Pancakes in Hero Mini P.E.K.K.A.
The pancake joke was later turned into an explicit part of the character’s design, and the 2025 announcements describe the mechanics below. These descriptions reflect the game as announced in late 2025. Ability values and balance can change between updates, so check the current in-game description before relying on exact numbers.

Breakfast Boost
In the November 21, 2025 release notes, Breakfast Boost is described this way:
- Each pancake eaten grants one level.
- The maximum is five pancakes, which gives five extra levels.
Cooking during the season
The December 1, 2025 season announcement frames the same mechanic as cooking over time. Hero Mini P.E.K.K.A. eats pancakes to level up, and waiting lets him cook more. The cap is again five pancakes and five bonus levels.

How Supercell describes the theme
The December 2025 release notes include this line: “Hero Mini P.E.K.K.A’s love for pancakes is secret to no one!” The post is an official Clash Royale blog entry, and no individual is named as the author. Attribute the quote to Supercell or the Clash Royale team.

None of the official sources reviewed say why Mini P.E.K.K.A. was given the word “Pancakes” in the first place. The 2017 retrospective refers back to an earlier developer explanation, but that earlier explanation is not part of the material available here, so this article cannot describe it. Any specific origin story, such as a design inside joke or a reference to another work, would go beyond what Supercell has published.
