In The Sims 4, Try for Baby may be missing because the Sims do not meet the game’s romance and pregnancy-eligibility requirements, or because you are checking the wrong interaction menu. Click a supported object—such as a bed, shower, hot tub, or rocketship—and check both Sims’ age and pregnancy settings. If they use mods, test the game with mods disabled.
Where to find Try for Baby
EA’s pregnancy guide says to build a relationship with another Sim, then click a supported object to look for Try for Baby. The listed objects include beds, showers, hot tubs, and rocketships. Romance is required, so a high friendship bar alone may not be enough.
Check the interaction on one of those objects rather than relying only on the Sim-to-Sim pie menu. If the option is still absent, move on to the Sims’ ages and Create-a-Sim pregnancy settings.
Check both Sims’ pregnancy eligibility
Age and pregnancy roles affect whether a pair can use the interaction. EA’s guide explains that Teen Sims cannot get pregnant; Elder Sims can get others pregnant but cannot become pregnant. Young Adult and Adult Sims can have their roles set to Become Pregnant, Get Others Pregnant, or Neither in Create a Sim.

- Requires The Sims 4 & all game updates. For PC, see minimum system requirements for the pack.
- Create Vampires
- Unleash Supernatural Powers
- Escape to Forgotten Hollow
- Live the Immortal Life
- Open Create a Sim and check the pregnancy settings for both Sims.
- Make sure the Sim who would become pregnant is eligible to do so.
- Make sure the other Sim’s role is compatible. A Sim set to Neither cannot fill either pregnancy role.
Being in a romantic relationship does not override age or pregnancy-role restrictions.
Test for a mod conflict
Mods can cause gameplay problems, particularly after a game update. EA recommends checking whether the issue continues with mods disabled, then checking mod compatibility with the creator. Its mods and game updates guidance recommends adding mods back in batches if the problem goes away without them.

- Develop Parenting Skills – Level up your Sim’s parenting skills to satisfy their child’s needs and influence their behaviors. Gain new abilities through experience and choosing when to discipline bad actions, encourage good behavior, or just let kids be kids.
- Shape Your Sim’s Childhood – The decisions you make influence how your Sim parents and leave a lasting impact on their child’s future. Each choice shapes their personality, affects their traits, influences their family relationships, and guides their path into adulthood.
- Gather your Sim’s family to participate in new activities and spend quality time with each other. Sims of all ages can work together to complete a variety of school projects, express their creativity using construction blocks, or volunteer their time for good.
- Customize your Sims’ looks and their home with new family fashion and build items. Give the kids’ bedrooms extra personality, remodel the kitchen to feel homier, and let your Sims express their sporty or artistic sides with new outfits.
- Back up your saves before changing your mod setup.
- Disable or remove mods, then launch the game and check whether Try for Baby appears for an eligible couple.
- If the interaction returns, check each mod’s compatibility with your current game version and add mods back in batches until the issue reappears.
This test can help isolate a conflict; it does not mean any particular mod is known to remove the interaction. EA does not endorse or support specific mods.
Could household size be the reason?
Household capacity is sometimes raised in player discussions about this problem, but EA’s guidance does not establish it as a universal reason Try for Baby disappears. Treat it as a diagnostic possibility, not a confirmed rule. You can compare with another couple or household that meets the age and pregnancy-role requirements; if the interaction appears there, that is a useful clue, but it does not identify the cause by itself.

- Scandal fuels drama: Forbidden romances, secret children, and public disgrace can impact careers, relationships, Dynasty Prestige, and Noble Favor.
Other ways to have a child
If your immediate goal is to add a child while you investigate the missing interaction, EA documents two other routes. They do not restore or fix Try for Baby.
