The result depends on the page type, the community’s formatting, your browser’s display setting, and sometimes accessibility or ad behavior. Start by checking the page’s layout switch and your browser’s desktop-site setting; if the page itself is complex, compare views or try the app rather than assuming one route will fix everything.
Why some Fandom pages are awkward on a phone
Fandom says its layout is intended to adapt to device size, but some page types do not have a mobile layout. Its support page names User pages as an example: they always display in desktop layout. A narrow screen can therefore show a page designed for a wider one, even when other parts of the wiki look mobile-friendly. Fandom Support explains which layouts are available and how to switch between them.

Page design matters too. Fandom says ordinary text-and-image pages generally render well, while complex layouts—especially multiple columns—may display less gracefully on mobile. Infoboxes, galleries, tables, and navigation are all part of the mobile design work described in its mobile-layout guidance and FandomMobile documentation. Those platform descriptions explain the intended design, not how every community’s custom formatting will behave on every phone.
That variation is especially noticeable on game wikis, where a page may combine a long infobox, dense tables, maps or galleries, and community-created templates. A page that fits a phone well in one section may become difficult to scan in another; the experience on one page is not a reliable measure of every wiki.

First check whether the browser is requesting desktop mode
If a page looks like a tiny desktop site, the layout may be a browser setting rather than a Fandom-wide failure. Fandom says readers can switch layouts using a link at the bottom of a page, and that the choice is remembered. Its support wording is: “You can switch between the mobile and desktop layouts of Fandom via a link at the very bottom of the page.”
- Scroll to the bottom of the Fandom page. Tap “View mobile site” or “View full site,” whichever option is shown. The label indicates the layout you can switch to.
- If the page remains in desktop view, inspect your browser’s page or site menu. Turn off any option named “Request desktop site” or similar for Fandom, then reload the page. The exact menu wording depends on the browser.
- Reload and compare. If it is a page type without a mobile layout, such as a User page, it may still use desktop presentation. Fandom’s help page, updated April 3, 2023, documents that limitation as well as the layout switch.
When a table, infobox, or elaborate page is hard to scan
Try the bottom-of-page layout switch to compare the mobile and full-site presentations. A wider desktop layout can sometimes make a table or multi-column arrangement easier to inspect, but it can also require horizontal scrolling or reduce text size on a phone. Treat this as a comparison, not a guaranteed repair: Fandom itself cautions that complex layouts may display less gracefully on mobile.

- For a long article, use its table of contents or section navigation if available, rather than scrolling past every section.
- For galleries or infoboxes, compare whether the mobile view stacks content more legibly than the full-site view.
- For a wide table, check whether the important columns remain visible at phone width; if not, use the view in which you can read the relevant entries without losing their labels.
Fandom’s FandomMobile documentation discusses mobile navigation, table-of-contents access, galleries, infoboxes, and the shared mobile web foundation. The documentation describes the platform and its design goals; community-added layouts and templates can still produce different results.

Fandom offers an official app as another way to access wikis. Its mobile page links to the app. Whether it helps depends on the specific wiki and task: compare the same page in the app and browser, paying attention to legibility, section navigation, search, and how easily you can return to the page you were reading.

These are reader anecdotes, not evidence that the problems are widespread or that the app will reproduce them for you. Accessibility and ads can create separate barriers
If keyboard navigation or assistive technology is blocked
Fandom’s accessibility statement, updated April 9, 2026, lists limitations including areas that cannot be navigated exclusively with keyboard input, possible contrast issues, missing alternative text, and buttons without names or labels. It also notes that user-generated content can add barriers beyond areas controlled by the platform. If a specific page is inaccessible, report the page and the barrier through Fandom’s contact route. Include the device, browser, and assistive technology involved, plus the steps that led to the problem, so the issue can be understood in context.

If an ad interrupts reading
Fandom says ads are geo-targeted and asks readers reporting a problematic ad to provide the community or wiki, the ad, why it is problematic, the operating system, and the country. A screenshot and the ad URL can also help when available. Reports may be reviewed; submitting one is not a promise that a particular ad will be removed. Use Fandom’s contact route to send the details.

- Page compatibility: Does this page type offer a mobile layout, or does it stay in desktop presentation?
- Legibility: Can you read the relevant text and identify table columns, infobox labels, and gallery images without excessive zooming or side-to-side movement?
- Navigation: Can you move between sections, search the wiki, and return to your place reliably in the browser or app?
- Accessibility: Do keyboard controls, labels, contrast, and alt text work with your assistive technology and browser on this page?
- Session behavior: Is an ad or loading problem disrupting this visit? If it is an ad issue, a specific report with the requested context is more useful than a general complaint.
