GTA VI is not currently announced for Nintendo Switch 2. Rockstar lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on its official GTA VI page, and Take-Two’s June 2026 announcement gives those platforms a November 19, 2026 release date. Neither announcement explains why Switch 2 is absent, so claims that the game is impossible to run on Nintendo’s console—or confirmed never to be coming—go beyond what the publishers have said.
What platforms has Rockstar announced for GTA VI?
Rockstar’s current GTA VI page lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S; it does not list Nintendo Switch 2. Take-Two Interactive’s June 2026 announcement sets November 19, 2026 as the launch date for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions.

That is the extent of what the announcements establish: those are the named platforms and date, while a Switch 2 version and release date have not been announced in the reviewed sources. An absent platform listing is not proof that Rockstar or Take-Two will never consider another version.
Why isn’t Switch 2 listed?
Rockstar and Take-Two have not stated an official reason for leaving Switch 2 off the announced platform list. It is therefore not possible to say from these announcements whether the decision reflects technical demands, development priorities, business considerations, or another factor.

Hardware differences may be relevant context, but they do not settle the question. Porting a large game can involve trade-offs in visual detail, resolution, frame rate, storage, and development work. Those are general considerations, not a confirmed explanation for GTA VI’s platform selection.
Can Nintendo Switch 2 run GTA VI?
The published specifications do not answer that game-specific question. Nintendo describes Switch 2 as using a custom NVIDIA processor, with a 7.9-inch screen at 1920×1080 and 256 GB of UFS storage. For TV play, Nintendo lists output up to 3840×2160 at 60 fps, as well as support for 120 fps at selected lower resolutions.

Output specifications describe what the system can send to a display; they do not mean every game renders at those resolutions or frame rates. Nintendo also says that “Frame rate, HDR, and VRR support vary depending on the software.” Without a GTA VI version, a developer statement, or a game-specific performance test, the console’s specifications alone cannot show whether a port is feasible or what compromises it might require.
