Intel’s WHQL graphics driver 32.0.101.9150 claims up to a 31% increase in average frame rate for Resident Evil Requiem running in DirectX 12 at 1080p with the Medium preset. The same release lists up to 29% at 1080p High, compared with driver 31.0.101.9034. Those are meaningful results, but they apply to a tightly defined test configuration—not automatically to every Intel Arc graphics processor.
What the 31% Resident Evil Requiem result actually measures
Intel’s release notes identify the improvement as a game-specific performance result for Arc B-series graphics. The comparison is between WHQL driver 32.0.101.9150 and the older 31.0.101.9034 driver, with the game using its DirectX 12 renderer at 1920×1080.

| Game and API | Resolution and preset | Reported result | Comparison driver |
|---|---|---|---|
| Resident Evil Requiem, DirectX 12 | 1080p, Medium | Up to 31% higher average FPS | 31.0.101.9034 |
| Resident Evil Requiem, DirectX 12 | 1080p, High | Up to 29% higher average FPS | 31.0.101.9034 |
Independent coverage has also discussed the 31% figure in the context of Core Ultra 2 processors with Lunar Lake integrated Arc graphics. That does not turn the number into a guarantee for every integrated or discrete Arc model; it identifies one hardware-and-driver context in which the improvement was observed.

Why a graphics driver can deliver a double-digit gain
A driver sits between the game and the GPU. It translates rendering commands, compiles and caches shaders, schedules work across execution resources, manages memory, and handles compatibility with the game’s rendering paths. If one of those layers is inefficient for a particular title, a later driver can remove a bottleneck without changing the silicon.

Game-specific optimization is the likely explanation
Intel’s release notes establish the before-and-after measurement, but they do not identify a single code change responsible for the result. The practical explanation is a collection of title-specific adjustments: shader handling, command scheduling, render-state management, or compatibility fixes that make this game use the GPU more efficiently.
That is why a driver can produce a large gain in one game while changing little in another. The work is not a universal 31% increase in Arc’s hardware capability; it is an improvement to a particular workload.
Does the boost apply to your Intel GPU?
| Hardware context | What is established | What you should assume |
|---|---|---|
| Arc B-series discrete graphics | Intel lists the Resident Evil Requiem DX12 improvements under this family. | Driver 32.0.101.9150 is the relevant release to test, using the stated resolution and presets. |
| Core Ultra 2 integrated Arc (Lunar Lake) | Independent reporting associates the 31% result with this integrated-graphics context. | The result may be relevant, but the exact processor, power limits, memory configuration, and test method still affect FPS. |
| Arc A-series discrete graphics | Intel support documentation records cases of 40–50 FPS rather than the expected 60-plus FPS, particularly versus similar-tier RTX 4060 cards. | Do not assume the B-series or Lunar Lake percentage transfers to an A-series card. |
The GPU family matters because the driver can use different code paths for different architectures. System memory, processor limits, cooling, and the game’s own settings also influence the result.

Average FPS is not the same as a consistently smooth game
“Up to 31% average FPS uplift” describes the arithmetic mean of the measured frame rates in Intel’s comparison. It does not state a minimum FPS, a one-percent-low result, frame-time consistency, or a guaranteed 60 FPS target. A higher average can coexist with occasional stutter or dips during demanding scenes.
For a meaningful comparison, keep all of these variables fixed:
- GPU family and exact model
- Driver version before and after the update
- DirectX 12 mode
- 1080p output resolution
- Medium or High quality preset
- Same game version, scene, and measurement method
- Average FPS plus minimum or percentile frame-time data when available
Changing from Medium to High, switching APIs, or comparing different Arc generations can make the percentage meaningless.

Which Intel driver should you install for Resident Evil Requiem?
For a supported Intel Arc system, 32.0.101.9150 is the release associated with the claimed improvement. Install the WHQL package through Intel’s driver download tools or manual support page, then restart Windows before testing.

- Record the current driver version and one repeatable Resident Evil Requiem run at 1080p in the preset you use.
- Install WHQL driver 32.0.101.9150 and reboot.
- Confirm that the game is still using DirectX 12 and the same resolution and quality preset.
- Repeat the same run and compare average FPS and frame-time behavior, not just the highest number shown by an overlay.
If your model is not listed as supported by the package, do not force the installation. A result that remains below expectations after updating may reflect a hardware-specific limitation rather than a failed update.

The update makes Arc more competitive than it was on the older driver in the measured scenario. It does not establish overall parity with every competing card, nor does it prove that every Arc system can sustain 60 FPS.

Intel’s own support documentation describes some Arc A-series configurations running at 40–50 FPS instead of the expected 60-plus FPS, especially when compared with similar-tier RTX 4060 systems. That observation and the B-series release-note uplift can both be true: one describes a remaining performance problem on certain hardware, while the other describes a large improvement in a defined comparison.
What to do if performance is still low
- Check the installed driver number; the release-note result is tied to 32.0.101.9150 versus 31.0.101.9034.
- Verify that the game is running in DirectX 12 at 1080p, rather than a different API, resolution, or dynamic-scaling mode.
- Confirm the GPU family before applying expectations from B-series or Lunar Lake testing to an A-series card.
- Measure a repeatable scene several times and watch frame-time spikes, not only the average.
- If an A-series system remains around 40–50 FPS, treat Intel’s documented behavior as a known limitation of that configuration rather than evidence that the 31% claim failed.
The useful conclusion is narrow but important: Intel is still finding substantial, game-specific gains through driver work. Resident Evil Requiem shows how large those gains can be, while the differences between Arc families show why the headline percentage must be read alongside the exact GPU, driver baseline, API, preset, and performance metric.
