First identify what is actually failing: an Agar.io session disconnecting, a browser tab or browser closing, or Windows freezing or restarting. Those symptoms point to different causes and need different fixes. Work through these low-risk checks in order; the Steam steps below are general PC advice, not fixes confirmed specifically for Agar.io.
Identify what is crashing
Before changing settings, note the scope and timing of the failure. Does only the game session end, does the tab or whole browser close, or does the PC freeze, show a blue screen, or restart? Does it happen at launch or after playing for a while? Do other apps or games fail too, and is there stuttering or heat beforehand?
- Session disconnect: Agar.io stops responding or returns you to a menu while the browser remains open.
- Tab or browser failure: the tab closes, freezes, or takes the browser down.
- Whole-PC failure: Windows freezes, shows a blue or gray screen, or restarts. This needs system-level diagnosis, not just game troubleshooting.
A Reddit post describes a user experiencing repeated browser-version crashes or disconnections, but one report cannot establish that the issue is widespread or identify its cause: the report on r/Agario.
Try these eight checks in order
1. Restart the affected app or PC
If the tab or browser has frozen, close and reopen it. If the whole computer is unresponsive, restart Windows when you can do so safely. For games that fail to launch, Steam Support’s general checklist also starts with a restart; it is not an Agar.io-specific recommendation. Steam Support: Games do not run after ‘Preparing to Launch’.

2. Install available Windows and driver updates
If the problem continues, check Windows Update and your PC or graphics-device maker for available driver updates. Steam includes Windows and driver updates in its general launch-failure guidance, but that does not confirm an update will fix Agar.io.
3. Compare browsers and sessions
If you play in a browser, try a current supported browser or open a clean/private session as a diagnostic comparison. If the problem occurs in only one browser or session, that narrows the scope; it does not prove the cause. Save anything important before closing tabs.

4. Temporarily close non-essential software
Close non-essential programs and, if applicable, disable browser extensions or overlays temporarily. Test again, then restore what you disabled. Steam says non-essential software can interfere with games generally; no cited source identifies a particular extension or overlay as an Agar.io problem.
5. Verify files only for a Steam-managed installation
If you actually launch the affected game through Steam and Steam offers file verification for that installation, use its Verify integrity of game files option from the game’s Properties. Steam lists file verification among general launch checks. The available sources do not establish that Agar.io has an official Steam PC release, so do not apply this step to a browser session or assume Steam is required.

6. Check requirements and free up resources
Steam recommends checking a game’s published system requirements and reducing background load when diagnosing performance. No official Agar.io-specific PC requirements were established in the available sources, so do not rely on guessed minimum specifications. 7. Investigate heat only if symptoms fit
If the PC becomes unusually hot or performance stutters before the failure, check that its vents have clear airflow. Steam advises adequate ventilation and careful dust removal; for internal heat sinks and fans, it says to use compressed air without touching internal surfaces. 8. Escalate blue screens and unexpected restarts
If Windows itself crashes or restarts, treat it as a PC problem rather than an Agar.io setting. Steam Support says of blue- or gray-screen restart errors: “These errors indicate a problem with your computer, not Steam, the game, or the application.” Possible areas to investigate include drivers or firmware, overheating, disk errors, faulty memory, and overclocking.
