If your Fortnite creator code is not active, Epic says it may have been disabled because the creator missed the tax-profile deadline, the Epic account was disabled for a Terms of Service violation, or the creator no longer qualifies for Support-A-Creator or Engagement Payout. Check the program status in your Epic account and identify which program is involved. If you mean a V-Bucks gift card that says it has not been activated, take it back to the retailer; Epic Player Support cannot activate it.
First, identify which Fortnite code is inactive
“Inactive” can describe two different problems. A Creator Code is connected to Epic’s creator programs. A V-Bucks or other gift card is a purchased code that a retailer must activate. The fix depends on which message you see:

- Creator Code disabled or not active: check the program status and eligibility in your Epic account.
- “This code has not been activated” or “The retailer/distributor has not activated this code”: return to the retailer where the card was purchased. Epic says Player Support cannot activate it. Epic’s code guidance covers the creator-code issue; its V-Bucks card guidance explains the retailer activation error.
Check the Creator Code’s program status
Epic’s help guidance directs creators to the Programs area of Epic Account settings. The menu labels may change, so use the account’s current Creator & developer tools navigation if they differ.
- Sign in to your Epic Games account and open Account settings.
- Under Creator & developer tools, choose Programs.
- Open the Support-A-Creator or Fortnite Developer tab, depending on the program you joined, and review the code and any status or account prompts.
Epic’s creator-code location guidance describes this route. A public help page lists possible reasons for disabling a code, not a diagnosis of an individual account. If the status does not explain what happened, contact Epic Games Support for account-specific information.

- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.

Why Epic may disable a Creator Code
Epic lists several possible reasons. The account status and program prompts are the best way to determine which one applies to you.
Tax profile or payout setup was not completed in time
Epic says a code may be disabled if the tax profile was not completed within the required time. Its current Creator Programs guidance says creators and developers who missed the 60-day Hyperwallet setup window can retry immediately; that missed window no longer causes a 90-day cooldown. Check the email associated with your Epic account and follow the tax and payout setup prompts. See Epic’s disabled-code guidance.

- Requires internet connection, valid Epic account and prior acceptance of the terms

Epic account enforcement
Epic also identifies an Epic Games account disabled for a Terms of Service violation as a possible reason for a disabled Creator Code. The public guidance does not say that the code will be restored automatically or specify the outcome of an appeal. Use Epic Support for details about your account.
Support-A-Creator or Engagement Payout eligibility
A code may be disabled if its creator no longer qualifies for Support-A-Creator or Engagement Payout. These are program-specific statuses: check the affected program tab and its current eligibility requirements rather than assuming that one program’s rules apply to the other.

What a “try to re-join in X days” message means
Epic says this message means you recently tried to enroll but did not meet the program’s requirements. Its guidance says missed Hyperwallet setup and declining the EULA no longer trigger waiting periods. For other enrollment issues, check the eligibility rules for that program and try again after the displayed period has elapsed if the problem persists. Epic’s enrollment guidance explains the message.

The relevant program matters when you check eligibility. Epic says an existing Support-A-Creator enrollment still permits island publishing through Creator Portal, but creators must also join the Fortnite Developer Program to qualify for engagement payouts. The Developer Program has its own enrollment and payout requirements; they should not be treated as universal Support-A-Creator rules. See Epic’s Fortnite Developer Program documentation.

For Fortnite Developer Program enrollment, Epic’s documentation says an applicant must be at least 18 and meet one of two purchase or spending routes:
- Make a qualifying real-money purchase through Epic Payments within the previous 365 days on the specified Epic services. Purchases made with gift-card balance or Epic Account balance do not count for this route.
- Spend and redeem at least $20 in Fortnite within the previous 365 days.
For real-money payouts, Epic says creators complete a tax interview through Tax Identity. Validation may take up to five business days, depending on country; after validation, creators receive instructions to activate a Hyperwallet payout account. These are Developer Program enrollment and payout details, not a general explanation for every inactive Support-A-Creator code.

When to contact Epic or the retailer
- Creator Code status is unclear: check the relevant Programs tab, follow any tax or eligibility prompts, then contact Epic Games Support if you still cannot identify the account-specific reason.
- Epic account disabled: ask Epic Support about the account enforcement status; the public disabled-code article does not establish an automatic restoration route.
- Gift card says it is not activated: contact the retailer that sold it. Epic Player Support cannot activate the card.
