If your house disappeared in The Sims 4, first check whether you are in the right save and whether an earlier version is available. From the Main Menu, open Load Game and inspect Recover Save for the relevant manual save. If you saved the build separately, look in Gallery > My Library. On Windows or Mac, a backup of your Sims 4 user folder may also help. Each route depends on having retained the needed version or backup; none can guarantee recovery if no copy exists.
First, identify what disappeared
The fix depends on whether the missing item is the house on one lot, the lot’s appearance on the world map, a separately saved build, or the entire save or household. The title alone cannot establish which happened, so check the matching route below before changing or overwriting anything.
- House gone from a lot: inspect an earlier save point or a saved copy of the build.
- Lot looks empty or changed on the world map: check the same save and world you were using before.
- Save or household missing: inspect available save points; on Windows or Mac, consider whether user data was moved or changed.
A previous save may have been loaded, the lot may have been cleared or replaced, or user data may be missing or problematic. These are possibilities, not a diagnosis. The cause cannot be determined without knowing your save history and what changed.
Try an earlier save point first
EA’s save recovery instructions describe recovering an earlier point from a manual save slot. This rolls back the save’s state, not just the house, so consider whether you are willing to lose changes made after that point.

- Create Vampires
- Unleash Supernatural Powers
- Escape to Forgotten Hollow
- Live the Immortal Life
- Return to the Main Menu and choose Load Game.
- Select the manual save slot that contained the house.
- Choose Recover Save, shown with a floppy-disk icon.
- Review the available points, choose one from before the house disappeared, and select Play.
- Check the lot in-game to confirm whether that version contains the house.
EA says each manual save slot retains several save points from recent play sessions. The single Autosave slot is replaced by each new Autosave, and older Autosaves cannot be recovered through that slot. If you need several recoverable versions, make manual saves rather than relying only on Autosave.
Look for a separately saved copy of the lot
A lot in My Library or the Gallery is a saved build, not a backup of the entire save or its world history. This route works only if you previously saved or uploaded the house; lots are not automatically stored there just because you played in them. EA’s Gallery guide explains how to save and place lots.

- Open the Gallery and select My Library.
- Filter the results by Lots and look for the house.
- Select the lot and place it in the desired world from the Gallery or Manage Worlds.
- Choose a destination lot large enough for the saved build.
A Gallery lot cannot be larger than the lot where you place it. Also check whether the build uses content you do not have, since missing content can affect what appears after placement.
On Windows or Mac, check for a user-folder backup
If the game data or user folder changed, a backup may contain the missing files. EA’s backup and reset guide provides instructions for Windows and Mac. Follow the steps for your operating system; these computer-folder instructions do not apply to console players.

- Preserve a copy of the current Sims 4 user folder before attempting a restoration, so you do not overwrite the only remaining version.
- Restore only from a backup that actually exists.
- If you are troubleshooting a problematic folder or file, EA’s guide describes reintroducing backed-up folders or individual save files one at a time to help isolate the issue.
Why an EA account may not have a cloud save
An EA account does not mean that The Sims 4 save files are backed up to EA app cloud storage. EA’s FAQ says the game does not support EA app cloud storage for saves. Gallery upload and download is separate: it applies to shared creations such as lots, rooms, and households, not a complete save file.

If there is no earlier save point, no saved Gallery or Library lot, and no user-folder backup, the official recovery instructions do not provide a way to recreate the missing version. Contact EA Support if the issue persists, but do not assume recovery is possible without a retained copy.
