1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesIn Rainbow Six Siege’s current Ranked system, you earn your starting rank by playing five placement matches. If you have not finished all five in the current season, finishing them is the step that gets you a rank. If you have finished all five and still see no rank, the public information Ubisoft has published cannot tell you what is wrong with your specific account, so the rest of this guide covers how to check the basics and when to contact Ubisoft Support.
Step one: confirm you have finished all five placement matches
Ubisoft’s June 26, 2026 Ranked 3.0 coverage states that “players now play five placement matches to earn their starting rank.” Ubisoft News reported this in its community checkpoint for June 26, 2026, and Ubisoft’s help documentation describes the seasonal rank as depending on the previous season and the first five matches. Until those five matches are complete for the current season, a player should not expect a starting rank to appear.
To check your progress:
- Open Rainbow Six Siege and go to the Ranked playlist.
- Count the Ranked matches you have played since the current season started. Only Ranked matches count toward placements; casual or unranked matches do not.
- If you have fewer than five, play the remaining matches in Ranked. Your starting rank is set after the fifth one.
- If you have five or more and still see no rank, move on to the troubleshooting checks below.
How rank moves after placements
Once you have a starting rank, Ubisoft says your rank updates after each Ranked match based on Rank Points (RP) earned or lost. The amount depends on the difficulty of the matchmaking you were placed against, so a win against stronger opponents can move you more than a win against weaker ones.
This also means a rank is not awarded for one strong match or a single standout performance. Progress is tracked match by match.

Why your K/D or KDA does not move your rank
Many players assume kill counts drive their rank. Ubisoft’s developer checkpoint of June 29, 2026 says the opposite: “KDA is not a factor in rank progression.” According to the same explanation, the system rewards winning as a team and recognizes support, intel, and utility contributions, rather than individual kill totals. Ubisoft’s June 29, 2026 recap of the checkpoint sets out this position.
If your K/D is low but you are winning rounds with utility, intel, or support plays, that is the behaviour the system is designed to recognize. If your kill count is high but your team keeps losing, a high KDA will not raise your rank.

What happens at the start of a new season
Ubisoft’s help documentation describes a soft reset at the beginning of each season, so your rank does not carry over unchanged. The Ranked 3.0 changes announced in June 2026 say the five placement matches reveal your existing skill, and Ubisoft acknowledged that placements did not feel impactful enough for many players. The company said planned changes were intended to give placements more weight in future seasons.
In practice, this means the rank you start a new season with is set by your placement results, not by your rank from the previous season. Ubisoft has not published a specific starting rank for any given player, so an exact expected result cannot be promised.

If you finished placements and still have no rank
Ubisoft’s public information explains the normal sequence of placements and rank updates. It does not cover individual account states, platform-specific problems, match-history issues, or client-side display faults. Because of that, avoid assuming an outage, a ban, or a bug without evidence from Ubisoft. Check the following first:
- You are checking the current season, not the previous one.
- All five placement matches were played in Ranked, on the same account and platform you are signed into now.
- You have restarted the game and checked the rank view again after your most recent match.
- Your rank appears after additional Ranked matches. If RP still does not change after several completed Ranked matches, that is a question for support.
If the rank is still missing after these checks, contact Ubisoft Support through the Rainbow Six Siege help pages. Include your platform, the season you are playing in, the date you finished your fifth placement match, and whether the problem affects only rank display or other parts of your account. Ubisoft can review the specific account; a general guide cannot.

Common reader questions this covers
Players searching this issue usually want to know whether they have finished placements, whether K/D affects rank, and why a rank is still missing after placements. The answers above cover each of these in order: placement completion comes first, RP drives updates after that, KDA is not a rank input, and a missing rank after completed placements needs an account-level check from Ubisoft Support.
