“Glitching” can mean choppy visuals, delayed actions, crashing, an install loop, or a problem with one Roblox experience. Start by identifying what you see and whether it happens in one experience or across Roblox: visual stutter points first to graphics or system load, while warping players and delayed actions point to the connection. The right fix depends on the symptom.
Identify what kind of glitch you’re seeing
- Choppy or stuttering visuals: Roblox calls this graphics lag. Lowering the in-game graphics quality can reduce the device’s workload. If that does not help, background applications may be using resources Roblox needs. Roblox Support’s lag guide distinguishes graphics lag from system lag.
- Players warp, actions feel delayed, or an experience takes a long time to load: These are clues of network lag or a connection problem, not necessarily a graphics problem. Roblox describes network lag as a slow or unstable connection. Roblox’s connection troubleshooting guide also covers long loading screens and experiences that shut down.
- Graphics error or distorted textures and text: Compatibility, graphics drivers, or Roblox graphics settings may be involved. A specific error such as “Graphics failed to initialize” is different from ordinary network delay. Roblox’s graphics troubleshooting page lists possible causes.
- Roblox will not open, crashes, or keeps asking to install: This points toward a desktop-app, installation, temporary-file, or firewall issue. Roblox’s desktop troubleshooting article covers these cases.
- Only one experience misbehaves: The experience itself may be the problem. Roblox notes that a place can contain a bad script or too many objects, which may require its creator to fix it. See Roblox’s guidance on experience-specific issues.
If the picture stutters, lower graphics quality
- While in an experience, press Esc and open Settings.
- Under Graphics, turn off Graphics Quality – Auto.
- Lower the graphics level, then continue playing briefly to see whether the stutter improves.
- If there is no improvement, close other high-power applications and check again.
Lower graphics quality trades some visual detail for less work for the device. Roblox describes the trade-off this way: “Lower graphics levels will reduce some of the image/visual quality but it also means that your device works less to run Roblox and may result in a better experience.” —Roblox Support, “How to Reduce Lag and Speed Up Play”
If Roblox shows a graphics error or textures look wrong
Roblox lists several possible causes: the PC may lack DirectX 10-or-higher feature-level support, the graphics driver may be outdated, the graphics card may be unsupported, or Roblox graphics settings may have changed. Roblox describes an unsupported card as rare; check the requirements and driver before assuming hardware is the cause.
Check DirectX feature-level support
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
dxdiagand press Enter. - Open the Display tab and look for Feature Levels.
- Roblox says a feature level of 10 or higher is required. If no level of 10 or above is listed, the application cannot be accessed on that graphics hardware.
Check the graphics driver and Roblox settings
Roblox’s graphics article describes using Roblox Studio > Settings > Diagnostics and checking the GfxCard entry to identify the graphics card Roblox uses. Get the appropriate driver from that card’s manufacturer. If the PC meets Roblox’s minimum specification but Roblox reports that graphics are outdated, the same support article advises checking that Roblox is not running in compatibility mode. Its graphics-settings reset instructions apply when Roblox Studio can start without crashing.

If players warp or actions are delayed, check the connection
- If you are on Wi-Fi, try a wired connection if available. This helps distinguish a wireless connection problem from graphics or system lag.
- Check whether firewall or router settings are blocking Roblox. Roblox identifies firewall problems as a frequent cause of connection issues; do not disable security protections broadly.
- If you manage the network, consult Roblox’s firewall and router guidance. Roblox lists UDP ports 49152–65535 for its connection troubleshooting. On a managed school, work, or shared network, ask the administrator rather than changing settings without authorization.
- Consider the experience itself: an unusually large experience can take longer to download, and a faulty or overloaded place may need its creator to address it.
Roblox also identifies low bandwidth and inconsistent wireless connections as possible causes. Its PC requirements page lists a connection of 4–8 Mb/s for a single-use household and says more bandwidth is advisable in larger households; that recommendation is not a guarantee that every experience will run smoothly. If Roblox crashes, will not launch, or repeats installation
Roblox’s desktop troubleshooting guidance identifies a Roblox installer or another program still running, corrupted temporary files, firewall interference, and corrupted Roblox files as possible causes. Try its fixes one at a time so you can tell whether a step helped:

- Restart the computer.
- Close other programs before installing or updating Roblox.
- Clear temporary internet files as part of the uninstall-and-reinstall troubleshooting process.
- Check that firewall settings allow Roblox to connect.
- Reinstall Roblox using the desktop troubleshooting steps.

Check whether the PC meets Roblox’s listed requirements
Roblox’s published PC requirements are minimums and recommendations, not a promise of smooth performance in every experience. The figures below are as listed on Roblox Support’s requirements page, accessed in 2026.

Try another experience before changing PC settings. If other experiences work normally, the issue may be specific to the affected place and may need attention from its creator. If the problem affects Roblox broadly, note the exact symptom, when it began, and which troubleshooting steps changed it.

For a persistent glitch, Roblox says to report what happens, when it began, and whether it occurs in one experience or all of them. It points users to the DevForum or to its support form with Bug Report selected. For ongoing connection trouble, include your Roblox username, any error messages, device model, operating-system version, steps to reproduce the issue, and relevant recent device or network changes.
