The fire symbol beside a player’s name in Rainbow Six Siege marks a Commendation Streak. Ubisoft describes it as a reward for consistently receiving commendations from teammates, not as a win streak or a measure of individual skill.
What the flame means
Ubisoft’s commendation system lets players recognize teammates for positive behavior after a match. Ubisoft’s explanation defines three commendation types:
- Valor: a teammate who stays calm under pressure and is pleasant to play with.
- Dedication: a reliable teammate who stays engaged, fills the role the team needs, and relays useful intel.
- Guidance: a teammate who shares knowledge and strategy.
When a player receives commendations consistently, the game activates a Commendation Streak, and a dedicated icon appears next to the player’s name. Where the streak shows up
Ubisoft’s launch article states that streak status appears in three places:

Ubisoft’s Operation Heavy Mettle announcement adds that players with an active streak are highlighted to others in-game unless they turn that option off.
How to hide the icon
If you do not want other players to see the marker, use Privacy Mode. Ubisoft’s explanation names this setting as the way to hide the icon from others; the exact menu location may differ between client versions, so check the privacy or display options in the current settings menu if the label has moved.

What the streak gives you
Ubisoft’s commendation article says the streak bonus increases the Alpha Pack drop chance by one percentage point (+1%). This is the benefit Ubisoft documented in that 2023 article. It is a published design figure, not an independently verified rate for every current game version, and it does not guarantee any specific pack.
What ends a streak
According to Ubisoft, a sanction or reputation penalty stops an active streak. While a restriction applies, the player cannot earn a new streak.

Exact official wording
Ubisoft’s Player Protection team published the commendation article, and it does not name an individual author. The key sentence reads: “If a player receives Commendations consistently, a Streak bonus will be activated, giving a +1% drop chance on their Alpha Packs.”
What to do if you see the flame
- Confirm the icon is beside your own name, then open the Commendations page in the Reputation Center to review your streak status.
- If you want the marker hidden from other players, enable Privacy Mode in the settings.
- Do not read the flame as proof of a win streak or high personal skill. Ubisoft’s published explanation ties it only to commendations.
How current this information is
The clearest official explanation is Ubisoft’s September 2023 commendation article, supported by the Operation Heavy Mettle announcement and the 2024 Impact Report. These sources establish what the icon means. They do not confirm that current menu labels, reward amounts, or eligibility thresholds are unchanged in the client as of October 2026. If a detail in your game differs from what is described here, trust the in-game text.
