Repeated World of Warcraft disconnects can come from an unstable Wi-Fi or internet connection, network equipment or ISP problems, software conflicts, or outdated or broken addons. The error code does not identify one universal cause. Start by recording the exact message and checking Blizzard’s service status and the official article for that error, then test your connection and addons one at a time.
Start with the error message and Blizzard service status
Write down the exact error code or message and when the disconnect happens—for example, shortly after logging in or during a particular activity. Blizzard recommends searching for the specific error before trying general connection fixes. Check Blizzard’s current service-status channels, then open the matching entry in its support search. A dedicated support article exists for WOW51900319; use Blizzard’s current page for its instructions rather than assuming the code points to one cause.
A browser or other online game working normally does not, by itself, rule out a problem on the route between your computer and WoW’s game service. The available support information does not establish how often any one cause is responsible.
Test your internet connection and network equipment
Blizzard’s connection troubleshooting guidance recommends closing other programs that use the internet, restarting your computer, and power cycling your modem. For the modem reset, unplug it for 30 seconds, reconnect it, and wait for the connection to return before testing WoW again.

Compare Wi-Fi with a wired connection
If you normally use Wi-Fi, temporarily connect the computer directly to your modem or router with Ethernet and see whether the disconnects continue. Blizzard cautions that Wi-Fi can cause difficulties with online gaming. This comparison helps isolate a wireless problem; it does not guarantee a fix or prove that the ISP or game service is at fault if disconnects remain.
Reduce other network use
Close downloads, streaming, and other applications using the internet while you test. Change one thing at a time and note whether the timing or frequency of disconnects changes. That makes it easier to tell whether a step has helped instead of combining several changes with no clear result.

Check addons and WoW interface files
Blizzard’s World of Warcraft technical troubleshooting guide says: “Lag and disconnections are often caused by outdated or broken addons.” Update your addons, then temporarily disable all of them and test the game. If that changes the behavior, re-enable them selectively to identify a likely culprit.
If disabling addons does not help, follow Blizzard’s guide to reset the WoW user interface. Treat this as a later diagnostic step, after checking service status and the connection, rather than assuming every disconnect is addon-related.

If disconnects continue
Use Blizzard’s current connection, firewall, and security software troubleshooting topics for the symptoms you see. If basic connection optimization does not resolve the issue, Blizzard recommends contacting your internet provider and asking about problems affecting online gaming. A provider can investigate the connection beyond your home network.
In a 2019 Blizzard support forum reply, a player was advised to check Killer Networking Center and SmartByte in some reported cases. This is older, case-specific advice, not evidence that either program commonly causes WoW disconnects. If you recognize one of those programs on your computer, consult its current vendor documentation before changing its network-prioritization settings.

A 2026 Blizzard-hosted forum report describes disconnects after a player changed residence and ISP despite trying multiple troubleshooting steps. It illustrates that causes can vary, but one forum report cannot establish a general pattern or identify the cause of another player’s disconnects.
