When Ubisoft Connect fails in Rainbow Six Siege, the cause usually falls into one of four groups: a Ubisoft service outage, an outdated Ubisoft Connect PC client, a lost connection between Siege and one of its game, matchmaking or Ubisoft services, or a local network or security-software block. The exact error text tells you which group you are in, so read it before changing any settings. The steps below apply to PC players. Ubisoft’s detailed client and network guidance is written for Windows PC.
Check Ubisoft’s service status first
Live service status changes faster than any article can track, so this guide does not assume an outage is in progress. Check it yourself before touching local settings, because a degraded Ubisoft service cannot be fixed on your PC.
- Open Ubisoft Help’s Rainbow Six Siege connectivity and performance page.
- Find the server status resource listed among the Siege support topics and check whether a degradation or outage is reported for Ubisoft Services.
- If an issue is listed, stop making local changes and wait for Ubisoft’s update. If no issue is listed, match your error message to the sections below.
Match the error message to its cause
These messages look similar but point to different faults. Treat them separately.
“A Ubisoft service is not available at the moment”
Ubisoft’s support article for this error states that it “occurs when Ubisoft Connect PC is unable to connect to Ubisoft Services.” Ubisoft directs players to check for ongoing service degradation or outage. If the status resource shows nothing, the problem sits between your PC and Ubisoft’s servers, so move on to the connection steps later in this guide.

“Service is unavailable” or “A Ubisoft Server is unavailable”
Ubisoft’s outdated-client article says these messages can appear when you launch an old version of Ubisoft Connect PC. The fix is a clean reinstall of the current client:
- Right-click the Ubisoft Connect icon in the Windows system tray and close the client from there. Confirm it is no longer running in Task Manager.
- Download the newest Ubisoft Connect PC client from Ubisoft’s official site.
- Install it, sign in again, and launch Rainbow Six Siege.
“Failed to load player profile”
Ubisoft lists this as a separate error topic in its Siege connectivity support, so do not assume it has the same cause as the two messages above. Check the status resource first, then work through the connection steps in this guide. If the message persists after both, escalate as described at the end of the article.

Siege connection error codes
If Siege itself reports a connection loss with a numeric code, the code tells you which link failed. Ubisoft’s Siege connectivity index lists these articles as updated between August and September 2026. For most of the codes below, Ubisoft’s first step is to restart the game. A restart clears a temporary drop, but it will not fix a persistent service-side problem. If the same code returns after a restart, treat it as a connection issue and move on to the network steps.

Fix the PC connection when no outage is listed
Ubisoft’s PC connectivity guidance recommends the following sequence. Work through it in order and retest Siege after each step.
- Test on a wired connection if you can. Ubisoft says a wired connection gives “the most reliable and steady results.” If you can plug into the router with an Ethernet cable, compare the result with Wi-Fi.
- Power-cycle your network hardware. Turn off your router and modem, wait about 30 seconds, then power them back on and let them reconnect fully before launching Connect.
- Update Windows. Open Settings, go to Windows Update, and install pending updates, then restart the PC.
- Check for software conflicts. Close background apps, and check whether your security software is blocking Ubisoft Connect or Siege. Add exceptions only if you trust the source.
- Run a ping test. Use Command Prompt to run a ping test and watch for dropped replies or large swings in response time. Ubisoft’s guide describes the test steps.
- Consider network restrictions. School, workplace and some public networks can block game traffic. If you have access to a different network, test Siege there to isolate the cause.
Offline mode, the overlay and background apps
Ubisoft Connect PC may launch in Offline mode when there is no internet connection, and automatic updates will not install while it is in that mode. If Connect opens offline, fix your connection first and then relaunch the client.

If the symptom is the in-game overlay rather than sign-in, Ubisoft’s overlay guidance identifies two common causes. Background apps can interfere with the overlay, and security software may block Connect. Update Ubisoft Connect, then test with background apps closed. If the overlay still fails, check whether your security software is blocking it.

If the real problem is that you cannot join a friend on another platform, the cause is usually a setting rather than a connection fault. Ubisoft’s crossplay guidance says crossplay is on by default on PC and off by default on consoles. Confirm crossplay is enabled in Siege’s settings on both platforms.

Cross-progression is a separate feature. It requires the same Ubisoft account to be linked on both platforms. If your progress is not carrying over, check the account linking before assuming a fault in Connect.
When to contact Ubisoft Support
If the error persists after you have checked the status resource, updated the client, restarted the game and worked through the network steps, contact Ubisoft Support. Ubisoft asks for DxDiag and MSInfo reports in persistent cases. Generate the DxDiag report by typing dxdiag into the Windows search bar and saving the output, and generate the MSInfo report by running msinfo32 and exporting the System Information file. Include the exact error message or code, the platform, and the steps you already tried.
