The “$500 Ahri skin” was not a standalone skin: it was the top-tier Signature Immortalized Legend Collection, priced at 59,260 RP during the 2024 Hall of Legends event. Riot launched the collection to mark Faker’s induction as the Hall’s first honoree. Contemporary coverage reported sharp fan backlash, though no representative poll measured how players overall felt.
What was the $500 Ahri skin?
It was shorthand for a premium bundle in League of Legends’ 2024 Hall of Legends event. Riot priced the Signature Immortalized Legend Collection at 59,260 RP. GameSpot estimated that at approximately $450, while Forbes put it at around $500; those are the outlets’ approximate US-dollar conversions, not a separate dollar price quoted by Riot. Both reports identify the same RP price. GameSpot and Forbes covered the bundle in May 2024.
The price covered a collection, not just Ahri’s appearance. The higher tiers included the Immortalized Legend Ahri skin and additional features such as transformations and finishers. Forbes reported that the Signature collection also included Faker-themed effects, event cosmetics, all 100 event-pass levels, and chromas for other champions. The exact contents varied by tier.
What did each collection tier include?
Contemporary reports agree on the RP price of the two higher tiers, but differ on the lowest tier’s RP figure and on their approximate dollar conversions. The dollar estimates below are attributed to the outlets rather than treated as fixed prices.

Why did Riot release the collection?
Riot created the Hall of Legends to honor professional players. Its Patch 14.12 notes, published June 11, 2024, named Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok as its first inductee. Riot said selections would be made by an independent panel of esports industry veterans and experts from every region, considering international appearances and titles, regional titles, role-specific statistics, and overall contributions.

Riot said it recognized Faker for his mastery of the game, contributions to esports, and inspiration to fans. The same 2024 notes listed his record at that time as 10 LCK titles, two Mid-Season Invitational titles, and four World Championship titles; those figures describe Riot’s 2024 account, not an updated career total.
Riot’s FAQ, quoted by Forbes, framed the premium collections as commemorative and emphasized the evolving Ahri skin and new features: “For those looking to flex their fandom, the Immortalized Legend Collection and Signature Immortalized Legend Collection include spectacular additions, headlined by the evolving Immortalized Legend Ahri skin. While more expensive, these versions are meant to be highly commemorative, with never-before-implemented features that we can’t wait to see hit the Rift.” The FAQ excerpt does not identify an individual speaker.

How did players react to the price?
GameSpot reported swift, strongly negative reactions on social media, including jokes about the price and a post saying its author would ban Ahri. Those examples show the response covered at the time; they are not a representative poll. No named statistic or representative survey measuring player opposition was identified in the cited coverage.
The dispute was therefore about more than a character skin’s sticker price: the headline figure referred to the most expensive event collection, whose added content and commemorative framing did not prevent it from becoming a focus of fan criticism.

Was it still available after the event?
No. GameSpot reported that the event collections were available from June 12 through July 8, 2024. Riot’s Patch 14.12 notes gave the featured skins’ release time as June 12, 2024, at 18:00 UTC. These sources establish the historical event window, not current availability or resale options.
Riot also offered a separate physical collectible, the Hall of Legends 2024 Immortalized Legend Ahri 1/6 Statue. Riot’s store listing showed a $299.99 price, described it as a collector’s item for ages 14 and up, estimated fulfillment beginning June 30, 2025, and marked its limited-edition preorder retired. That listing does not establish current inventory or resale availability, and the statue is separate from the in-game skin.
