Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have announced two new Pokémon games for Nintendo Switch 2: Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves. They are scheduled for a simultaneous worldwide release in 2027. The official announcements do not explain why the games were not revealed earlier, so claims about delays, marketing plans, or hardware strategy would be speculation.
Are Pokémon Winds and Waves coming to Switch 2?
Yes. The official Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves announcement describes the games as all-new entries in the Pokémon video game series and says they will be released exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027, simultaneously worldwide. No specific release date has been announced in the cited material.

The announcement describes an open-world adventure across islands and a vast ocean, with unique regional ecosystems. It also reveals three partner Pokémon: Browt, the Bean Chick Pokémon; Pombon, the Puppy Pokémon; and Gecqua, the Water Gecko Pokémon. The player-character outfit differs between versions, but the announcement does not establish what other gameplay differences, if any, separate Winds from Waves.
Why weren’t the games announced earlier?
The official sources do not give a reason. They confirm the games and their platform and release year, but do not say that a particular Nintendo presentation was expected to reveal them or explain why the announcement came when it did. Development timing, marketing strategy, hardware planning, and negotiations are therefore not established explanations.

The announcement confirms the platform, release year, simultaneous worldwide launch plan, setting, partner Pokémon, and version-specific outfits. It does not provide a precise date or establish further differences between the versions. Until more details are announced, comparisons involving performance, graphics, or gameplay depth would go beyond what the official information supports.
