Supercell Make named Gladiator Colette by Francy Artist the winner of its 2021 “Colette Lost in Time!” campaign, with Broken Timeline Colette by Kent2D listed as a runner-up. Some players objected to the result, but the available official campaign record does not explain why the winning entry was selected or publish comparative vote totals. It therefore does not substantiate the claim that Supercell publicly justified the choice.
What Supercell Make selected
The “Colette Lost in Time!” campaign invited artists to imagine which era Colette had reached after finding a time-travel device. Supercell Make’s campaign page lists Gladiator Colette by Francy Artist as the winner and Broken Timeline Colette by Kent2D as a runner-up. Supercell Make’s campaign page records the result, but does not state the team’s rationale for choosing the winner.
Supercell’s later Brawl Stars “#MysteryAtTheHub” patch notes list Gladiator Colette among the game’s cosmetics and include pins for the skin. That confirms the winning concept became an in-game cosmetic; those notes do not establish its current shop availability or price.

What the campaign terms said about creator rewards
Supercell Make’s 2021 campaign page described a reward for the selected creator equal to 25% of net revenue generated by the skin’s sales during its first 30 days, with a stated minimum of $10,000 and maximum of $50,000. These were campaign terms; they do not establish what Francy Artist ultimately received.
The page also described a $1,000 prize for runner-up entries among the top 10 dev-favorite skins. This term does not establish an individual payout to Kent2D.

Why some players objected—and what that proves
A contemporaneous Reddit post expressed frustration that Gladiator Colette had been chosen over a concept its author believed had stronger support. The post also urged readers not to harass the artist or developers. It is evidence of one community reaction and a call for civility, not a measure of how many players agreed or whether harassment was widespread.
A contemporaneous Brawl Stars Fandom discussion also questioned the result and included claims about vote totals and finalist selection. Those are user-generated recollections, not verified campaign figures or authoritative rules. The campaign page confirms that voting took place, but the available official record does not give reliable comparative totals or a complete account of how voting related to the final selection.

Did Supercell explain why Gladiator Colette won?
Not in the official campaign record cited here. It identifies the winner and runner-up and supplies the campaign timeline and reward terms, but it does not explain the selection rationale. No specific motive—such as a seasonal theme, favoritism, a vote count, or a particular design criterion—is established by these sources.
So the substantiated account is narrower than the claim that Supercell “justified” its choice: Supercell Make announced Gladiator Colette as the winner; some players questioned the outcome; and the official page available here does not resolve why that entry was selected.
