1. Restart the PS5
PlayStation’s game-start troubleshooting begins with a restart. Restart the console, then launch the game again.
2. Check for a game update
Highlight the game tile on the home screen, press the Options button, and choose Check for Update. If an update appears, install it before launching the game. If the menu reports that the game is up to date, move to the next step.

3. Restore licenses
PlayStation includes license restoration in its game-start steps. It is most relevant if the game fails to launch or if access to it appears inconsistent. Use the Restore Licenses option in the console settings, then try the game again.
4. Update PS5 system software
Check the console settings for the latest PS5 system software and install it if one is available. The store listing notes that the PS5 may need current system software, so an outdated console is a plausible cause to rule out early.

5. Delete and redownload the game
If the simpler steps fail, delete the game and download it again. PlayStation recommends a stable wired connection where possible. Before you delete anything, make sure your save data is backed up. For a disc copy, follow PlayStation’s official disc troubleshooting instead of relying on a download.
6. Run Clear Cache and Rebuild Database in Safe Mode
PlayStation’s guide points to the Safe Mode option named Clear Cache and Rebuild Database. Follow PlayStation’s linked Safe Mode instructions, read the option’s description on screen, and select only that option. This is maintenance for the system’s stored data, not a fix written for this game.

If the problem continues, contact PlayStation Support with the details you recorded: the error code or message, a clear description of the crash, the steps that reproduce it, and a screenshot or video if you can capture one.

- Do not reset or reinstall all system software early. These procedures can erase data. Use them only if PlayStation Support directs you to, and only after you understand what they will delete. PlayStation’s guide places backup and system software reinstallation near the end of its escalation path.
- Do not treat PC patch notes as a PS5 fix. The developer’s Steam FAQ includes a programmer’s report of a bug that was fixed in a patch dated November 20, 2024. That report concerns the PC version and a specific in-game issue. It is not evidence of a PS5 crash patch.
- You do not need to buy anything. The official steps require no accessories, repair tools, or paid software.
