Farosh is most likely not missing from the game. It moves along a route that runs across the Surface and through the Depths, so a player waiting at one familiar spot can easily miss it. The fix is to search the route, not to keep waiting in one place.
Why Farosh seems to disappear
Farosh is not a fixed spawn that appears at one location on a timer. Nintendo Life’s general explanation of the dragons in Tears of the Kingdom says they follow routes and can enter the Depths, which means a dragon can be in a different part of its circuit or underground at the moment you check. If you only look where you last saw it, or where you expect it to be, you may conclude it has not appeared when it has simply moved on.
Where to search on the route
Zelda Dungeon Wiki’s Farosh page summarizes the route as beginning with an emergence on the Surface at East Gerudo Chasm and ending its Surface leg with a descent at Hills of Baumer Chasm. A Gamer Guides search result also places the Surface arrival point at East Gerudo Chasm. Both are third-party guides, so treat these landmarks as reliable starting points rather than guaranteed sightings.
- Start at East Gerudo Chasm. Check the Surface there first, since route guides identify it as where Farosh comes up.
- Follow the Surface route toward Hills of Baumer Chasm. This is where guides place its descent. Scan the sky and the area along the way rather than standing still.
- Check the Depths. If Farosh is not visible above ground, look for it along its underground route instead of continuing to wait on the Surface.
- Return to the Surface route if needed. Because the dragon keeps moving, a second pass across the same landmarks is often more useful than one long wait.
What is not established
The sources reviewed do not confirm a quest, a time-of-day condition, or any other required trigger for Farosh to appear. Claims that it needs a specific time or story step are therefore unverified. Nintendo’s official general gameplay tips for Tears of the Kingdom are not specific to Farosh and do not settle the question either.

No reliable interval or cycle length has been published for Farosh’s route, so there is no fixed wait time to plan around. Route-based searching is the approach the available guides support.

Community posts use phrasing such as “Is there something I need to do to make Farosh spawn?” and short titles like “Can’t Find Farosh.” These posts are useful for seeing how players describe the issue and for sharing route tips, but they are player reports rather than official documentation of how Farosh works.
