Off The Grid is worth a try if you want a battle royale where survival is only part of the decision: you can also hunt valuable loot and try to extract it. Its free-to-play entry point and changeable cybernetic limbs make that blend easy to explore, though the game is not a guaranteed fit for every player.

What makes Off The Grid different from a standard battle royale?

Gunzilla Games describes Off The Grid as a cyberpunk battle royale, but its official gameplay pitch calls the format “Extraction Royale.” The match is not framed solely around eliminating rivals or being the last player standing: players can fight opponents, hunt valuable Hexes, and attempt to extract high-value loot. That gives you a risk decision during play—keep pursuing rewards, or prioritize getting out with what you have. Gunzilla’s gameplay page and the Steam listing describe that combination.

If what you want is a pure last-player-standing format, check the current in-game mode details before jumping in. The official “Extraction Royale” description establishes the game’s central pitch, but it does not establish that every mode or queue uses identical objectives.

Why give it a try?

Matches offer more than one kind of risk

The most distinctive reason to try Off The Grid is the choice between pursuing loot and engaging rival players while still managing the goal of extraction. That is a concrete twist on the battle royale loop: a valuable find may be tempting, but acquiring it is not the same as securing it.

Cybernetic limbs can change your approach

Cybernetic augmentation is more than a visual theme in the official description. Gunzilla says players can switch cyberlimbs during a match, while Steam highlights modular limbs, jetpack movement, and weapon customization. The Steam page advertises more than 15 cybernetic limbs to loot, steal, or select on entry, along with thousands of weapon combinations; those are publisher product claims, not independently verified measurements. For players who enjoy adjusting a build rather than committing to one fixed loadout, that flexibility is a reason to explore the game.

There is no purchase price to start

Off The Grid is free-to-play according to the publisher and its store listing. That removes the upfront purchase as a barrier to finding out whether its mix of PvP combat, extraction, and build choices suits you.

Where can you play it, and is it fully released?

Gunzilla’s official FAQ lists PC through Steam and Epic, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Mac, and GeForce Now. The same FAQ says Early Access began in 2024, describes the game as fully playable, and gives October 2026 as the planned full-release window. A May 29, 2026 roadmap announcement also described launch as planned around the game’s second-anniversary window. These are the studio’s stated plans, not confirmation that full release has happened; check the official FAQ for the latest status.

For PC, Steam lists Windows 10 or higher, an Intel i5-9400 or similar processor, 16 GB RAM, a GeForce RTX 2060 or similar graphics card, broadband internet, and 28 GB of storage as minimum requirements. Its recommended listing is an Intel i7-12700 or similar, 32 GB RAM, an RTX 3070 Ti or similar, and 28 GB storage. These specifications come from the Steam store listing; recheck it before installing because requirements may change.

Are NFTs required?

No, according to Gunzilla. The publisher’s FAQ says: “Off The Grid is not an NFT game. It’s a battle royale game with an optional NFT element. If you want to try out NFTs, you can; if you don’t want to, you don’t have to. It’s entirely up to the player how they want to play the game, and the game is playable without dipping into NFTs.” That is the publisher’s characterization; it says participation is optional and the game can be played without NFTs. Gunzilla’s FAQ has the full statement.

What should you know about player reception?

In the Steam snapshot checked on October 8, 2026, 61% of 1,525 total English-language reviews were positive, and 58% of 80 reviews posted in the previous 30 days were positive. Steam classified both ratings as “Mixed.” These figures are specific to Steam, change over time, and do not explain why reviewers liked or disliked the game or represent reception on other platforms. The Steam listing shows the current ratings.
