No, Warzone is not being shut down everywhere. As of October 8, 2026, the current PC and newer-console version is still supported. What has ended or is ending is narrower: Warzone on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the Warzone Mobile app, and the older Warzone Caldera service. Each one has a different status, so the answer depends on which version you play.

PS4 and Xbox One: a sunset, not a general shutdown
The change affecting last-generation consoles is the one most players mean when they ask whether Warzone is gone. Activision’s platform update says service reductions began on June 4, 2026, when Warzone was removed from the PS4 and Xbox One digital storefronts. Anyone who did not already have the game installed could no longer download it. Activision’s update said copies already installed could still be played during the wind-down.

Activision has not published a final calendar date for last-generation play. Instead, it ties the end to content milestones: the last-generation versions stay playable through the end of Black Ops 7 Season 6, then become unavailable with Modern Warfare 4 Season 1. Until a newer official announcement gives a date, the season references are the only end point the publisher has committed to.
Moving your progress to a current console or PC
If you play on PS4 or Xbox One and want to keep playing Warzone, Activision names current-generation consoles and PC as the continuation paths. The process depends on account linking and on which purchases you hold:
#1 Best Overall
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III - Cross-Gen Bundle
- Pre-Order and Receive Early access to the Open Beta - first on PlayStation*
- Some features may require an internet connection and an online subscription
- Sign in to the Activision account that is linked to your current Warzone profile on PS4 or Xbox One.
- On the new platform, sign in with that same Activision account before you start playing.
- Check your progression. Activision says progression carries to supported platforms when the same linked account is used.
- Check your COD Points and paid content before you assume they will move. Activision says COD Points and some content bought with local currency may be restricted to the same console family.
Because of those restrictions, treat the purchase of new hardware as a conditional decision. A current-generation console makes sense for last-generation owners who want to stay on console and whose library and balance will carry over. Anyone who already plays on PC does not need new hardware to keep playing Warzone.
Warzone Mobile: already offline
Warzone Mobile is the one version that is fully over. Activision’s service-change page says the game was removed from Google Play and Apple’s App Store in May 2025 and that real-currency purchases ended May 19, 2025. Servers went offline on April 17, 2026, after which the game could no longer be played.

- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is the sequel to 2019’s blockbuster Modern Warfare.
- Featuring the return of the iconic, team leader Captain John Price, the fearless John "Soap" MacTavish, the seasoned Sergeant Kyle "Gaz” Garrick, and the lone wolf himself, fan favorite Simon “Ghost” Riley, players will witness what makes Task Force 141 the legendary squad it is today.
- Some features may require an internet connection and an online subscription
Activision’s explanation for the change, as stated on its own page, is: “it unfortunately did not meet our expectations with mobile-first players like it has with PC and console audiences.” That is the publisher’s own reasoning, not an independent market finding. The page points mobile players to Call of Duty: Mobile and notes that Warzone remains available on PC and console.
Warzone Caldera: retired, with no return planned
Warzone Caldera was a separate, older service. Activision announced on June 22, 2023 that it would shut down on September 21, 2023. Its Support FAQ confirms the servers are no longer available and states that the shutdown did not affect current Warzone.
