GTA IV is not currently listed for PS4, and there is no confirmed PS4 release in the official sources reviewed as of October 8, 2026. Whether Rockstar will release one in the future is unknown. A PS3 copy will not work on PS4 because Sony says the console does not support backward compatibility with PS3 games.
Is GTA IV available on PS4?
No. Rockstar’s official GTA IV page lists Xbox One, PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, but not PS4. It identifies GTA IV: Complete Edition as available through the Rockstar Games Launcher and Steam; it does not list a PS4 edition.

Can you stream GTA IV through PlayStation Plus on PS4?
Sony explains that eligible catalog games can be streamed on PS4, but its support guidance directs players to check the catalog for available titles. It does not establish that GTA IV is included. Catalog availability can vary by market and change, so treat streaming as an option only if GTA IV appears in the current catalog for your region and plan. Sony’s guidance specifies a broadband connection of at least 5 Mbps for streaming.
What are the documented ways to play GTA IV?
- PlayStation: The original console version is for PS3. A PS3 disc requires access to a PS3.
- Xbox: Rockstar lists Xbox One among the game’s platforms.
- PC: Rockstar lists the Complete Edition through the Rockstar Games Launcher and Steam. Check the current store listing and your PC’s hardware requirements before buying.
Could Rockstar release GTA IV for PS4 later?
It is possible, but there is no confirmed PS4 release in the official sources reviewed as of October 8, 2026. Current platform listings cannot establish what Rockstar might decide in the future, and rumors or player speculation are not confirmation.
