As of October 5, 2026, the available signs point to continued activity: the game reached version 1.0 in July, Pocketpair has discussed an update 1.1, and a separately licensed mobile spin-off is in development. None of that proves what the game’s status will be in October 2027, and the lawsuit brought by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company does not by itself establish that Palworld will be removed.
Why the prediction looks doubtful
The strongest evidence against “Palworld won’t exist next year” is recent activity around the original game. PC Gamer reported that Palworld reached version 1.0 in July 2026, after more than two years in early access. That date is supported here by secondary reporting rather than a first-party release notice. PC Gamer’s 1.1 coverage also reported that Pocketpair communications and publishing lead John “Bucky” Buckley said the studio was not planning to spend a year making a massive 1.1 update. That describes the planned scale of one update, not an end to support.

In September 2026, GamesRadar+ reported Buckley saying that Palworld was unfinished and that the team was working on 1.1. The outlet characterized 1.0, in Buckley’s account, as a “soft prologue.” His statement was direct: “Palworld’s not finished. Of course we’re gonna do something more with it.” GamesRadar+’s interview coverage is evidence of stated plans at that time, not a guarantee of a particular release date or long-term support schedule.
What the lawsuit does—and does not—show
On September 19, 2024, Nintendo announced that it and The Pokémon Company had filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Pocketpair in Tokyo District Court on September 18. The companies said they were seeking an injunction and damages. Those are the plaintiffs’ allegations and requested remedies, not a court finding of infringement and not evidence that Palworld has been ordered removed. The announcement does not establish the case’s eventual outcome or prove that the game will shut down. Nintendo’s announcement is the companies’ account of their filing.

Separate signs of continued franchise activity
Garena announced on August 3, 2026, that Palworld Online, an officially licensed mobile multiplayer survival game, was in development and scheduled for availability in 2026. Garena said launch timing details would follow; its announcement did not give a specific launch date. The project signals activity around the Palworld property, but it is a separate game and cannot establish whether the original PC and console game will remain supported or available. Garena’s announcement describes the mobile project and its status at the time.
There are also historical signs of commercial interest, but they should not be mistaken for current player data. In 2024, Palworld Entertainment reported more than 25 million total players within one month of release and announced a joint venture to expand the IP through licensing and merchandising. That milestone is not a current player count, and the announcement does not establish current merchandise availability. Palworld Entertainment’s announcement documents those 2024 plans and figures.

What we know about future updates
In January 2025, the Palworld Development Team said it would continue updating the game toward official release. Its roadmap listed plans including co-op crossplay, world transfers for Pals, a World Tree and ending scenario, new content, and optimization and user-experience improvements. Because that roadmap is dated, it records intentions at the time; it does not independently confirm that every listed feature shipped. The team’s Steam roadmap is the source for those plans.

The evidence available on October 5, 2026, does not support treating shutdown within a year as the likely outcome. Recent reporting describes a 1.0 release and work on 1.1, while a licensed mobile spin-off is in development. But near-term plans are not a promise of long-term availability: no source cited here establishes Palworld’s player count today, guarantees a continuing update cadence, or confirms its status in October 2027. The most defensible answer is that Palworld appears active now, while its status a year from now remains uncertain.
