Yes, Capcom has confirmed plans for more Resident Evil Requiem content after launch, and its director has said a story expansion is in development. What Capcom has not announced is the expansion’s release date, price, title, plot, or platforms. The newest official item covered here is dated May 8, 2026, so anything announced after that is not reflected below.
What Capcom has confirmed
The confirmed picture has three parts: a company-wide plan for continued support, a director’s statement about story content, and a separate free update. Each has a different date and a different level of certainty.

- Ongoing support is official. Capcom’s March 16, 2026 press release, which announced that Requiem sales had passed 6 million units, said: “Going forward, Capcom plans to implement several measures, such as ongoing support and additional game content, so players can continue to enjoy the title longer.” The release describes Capcom’s own plan and does not name a director, a schedule, or a price.
- Story content is in development, according to the director. PC Gamer reported on March 10, 2026 that director Koshi Nakanishi had publicly said more content was being prepared, and that extra story content would take time. This is attributed reporting of his message, not a Capcom release-date announcement.
- Future content is reiterated in investor material. Capcom’s investor-relations Q&A says the company is planning additional Requiem content and sees further room for growth. The version reviewed does not state a publication date, and it does not describe what the content is or when it will arrive.

| March 16, 2026 | Capcom press release (6 million-plus sales milestone) | Capcom plans ongoing support and additional game content; Capcom described the milestone as the fastest a Resident Evil title had reached it | A story expansion schedule or terms |
| April 28, 2026 | TechRadar, based on a Denfaminico Gamer interview with producer Masato Kumazawa and director Koshi Nakanishi | A mini-game was in its final development stages and was described as a single-player mode built on battles from the main game | Anything confirmed by Capcom directly; the interview was machine-translated |
| May 8, 2026 | Capcom USA news index | A new game mode was announced as a free update | That the free mode is a paid expansion, or the same feature as the April mini-game |
| Undated in the version reviewed | Capcom investor-relations Q&A | Capcom is planning additional Requiem content for the future | Type, date, price, or platforms |
Story expansion and the free game mode are different things
Readers often merge these, but the sources treat them separately. The May 8, 2026 announcement is a free update that adds a game mode. The story expansion is a separate, unscheduled project. Capcom’s listing does not say whether the free mode is the same feature TechRadar described in April, so it should not be read as the story expansion’s arrival or as a sign that the expansion has a date.
#1 Best Overall
- Amazon Exclusive - 2 sided poster included in every game!
- Grace Ashcroft, an FBI intelligence analyst who is introverted and easily scared, representing a new type of character for the Resident Evil series. Grace will experience horror from the same perspective as the player as she learns to overcome her fears throughout the course of the story.
- For the first time ever in Resident Evil history, players will be able to freely switch between both first- and third-person perspectives throughout the game.
- An Anniversary to Remember: With March 2026 marking the Resident Evil series’ 30-year anniversary, Resident Evil Requiem marks its own milestone in the franchise.
- Pre-orders for Resident Evil Requiem are now open, with the bonus of Grace’s costume: Apocalypse. Please note that the picture weapon does not come with the costume, but it can be obtained in-game.
The phrase “additional content” also covers more than story DLC. Capcom’s official wording does not say whether future material will be paid, free, or a mix. Until Capcom names a format, treat “additional content” as a plan rather than a product.
What is not established
None of the official statements reviewed confirm the following:
Rank #2
- A NEW ERA OF SURVIVAL HORROR — Experience the ninth mainline Resident Evil adventure, blending terrifying survival horror with pulse-pounding action in an immersive new chapter.
- TWO INTERTWINED JOURNEYS — Experience the story through FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and legendary agent Leon S. Kennedy, each bringing a distinct gameplay style to the nightmare.

- RETURN TO RESIDENT EVIL — Enter the latest mainline chapter of Capcom’s iconic survival horror series for a chilling experience built around fear, tension, and action.
- A release date or release window for a story expansion
- A price, season pass, or preorder
- A title, plot, or featured character
- Which platforms would receive an expansion
Requiem’s base platforms are PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, as listed in Capcom’s September 2025 announcement. That list describes the base game only. It does not confirm that any future content will appear on all four, or on any of them. Character and story speculation circulating online is not Capcom information unless Capcom has announced it.
What would count as a real expansion announcement
If Capcom announces a paid or named expansion, check these items in the official announcement before assuming anything about it:

- DELUXE EDITION CONTENT — Includes the full game plus five costumes, four weapon skins, two screen filters, two charms, the Raccoon City Classic Audio Pack, and Letters from 1998.

- Whether it is a standalone purchase, a bundle, or a free update
- Whether ownership of the base game is required
- The exact platforms listed in the official store entry
- The official price and any launch-date window, stated with a date
- Whether the content is described as story material, a game mode, or both
Until an announcement like that exists, any shopping or comparison decision about Requiem add-ons would rest on speculation. The base game is the only Requiem product with confirmed details.

The clearest sign of a real story expansion would be an official Capcom announcement with a title, date, and price, published on Capcom’s news index or its platform store pages. Statements about content being “in development” or “planned” are useful for knowing that work continues, but they have not been tied to a date. Given that the newest official item covered here is from May 2026, check Capcom’s news page directly for anything newer before drawing conclusions about timing.
