Blizzard acknowledged that some Winter Wonderland challenges were not progressing. The reports and the acknowledgment are dated December 2025. They do not show whether Blizzard later fixed the problem, credited affected matches, or compensated players, so treat this as a record of a December 2025 known issue rather than a confirmed current status.
What players reported
A December 9, 2025 post on Blizzard’s Overwatch forum said that matches in event modes were not advancing challenge counters. The poster named Snowball Slayer, Freezethaw Fighter, and Yeti Getter, reported that each required three games with wins counting double, and said the counters stayed at 0/3 after matches ended. The post is titled “Winter event chllenges not traking progress” on the forum (spelling as published).

A separate Blizzard forum thread recorded reports involving Mei’s Snowball Offensive, Yeti Hunt, and Freezethaw Fighter, and some posters said Mischief & Magic kept tracking progress while those modes did not. A European technical-support thread from December 11, 2025 named Yeti Hunt and two Mei modes as not tracking, and its author said Magic & Mischief was tracking. Requirements for the event modes themselves were not stated in these posts.
These are player reports. They describe what individual accounts saw, not a verified count of how many accounts or matches were affected.

What the December 18 patch notes change, and what they leave out
Blizzard’s December 2025 patch notes describe several event changes. They raise the event reward to three cookies per challenge, and they make Mei’s Snowball Offensive, Snowball Deathmatch, Yeti Hunter, and Freezethaw Elimination available in Arcade and the Winter Wonderland Game Modes tab.

The excerpt available for this article does not say that the challenge-tracking bug was fixed. Those changes concern rewards and mode availability, so they should not be read as confirmation that progress tracking was repaired.
What remains unknown
- Whether the tracking problem was fixed after the December 9, 2025 notice.
- Whether matches played while the counters were stuck were credited retroactively.
- Whether affected players received compensation.
- How many accounts or matches were affected. No published figure was found, and forum likes or individual posts should not be treated as one.
- Whether the issue applied in every region. The reports come from the US and EU Blizzard forums.
If your Winter Wonderland challenge is stuck
If you are reading this after the event has ended, the practical question is usually whether the progress can still be recovered. Based on what is documented, these steps give you the best record to work from:
Rank #4

- Fight for the future.together
- The world is your battlefield
- Game requires Xbox Live Gold to play
- Before reporting, note the challenge name, the mode you played, the number of completed matches, and the counter value shown afterward. Take a screenshot if you can.
- Check the Blizzard December 2025 patch notes and any newer Overwatch 2 notices for a fix or compensation statement. The December 2025 excerpt does not confirm either.
- Post in the Blizzard forum for your region, adding your platform, region, and the specific modes and match counts. Reply to the existing threads rather than starting duplicates where possible, since they already collect the same reports.
Keep your match records until Blizzard publishes a clear statement on credit or compensation, since no such statement appears in the material available for this article.
